Vault in Mountain Home Air Force Base/ Companion Mod

I have an idea for companion mod that includes it's own quest and possibly a new land. I've already written a intro/summary of it and some of the dialogue for the companion.

Here's the Intro/Summary:

"2077 was a year of fear. Some fears were justified, and some were fueled by propaganda. Vault Tec used people's fear for "scientific" gain. They gave a select few the promise of safety, only to turn them into experiments. Those who could not find the safety of a vault, were left exposed when the bombs fell. Many died, many wished they had died, and some survived.

On a small military base in Mountain Home, Idaho, a different kind of vault was built. The price to enter a Vault Tec vault was too high, and desperate times called for desperate measures. Idaho people, notorious rednecks and survivalists, banned together to build their own vault on the Mountain Home Air Force Base. Entry didn't have a rich man's price tag, only a promise to contribute resources for the impending apocalypse. The people in the Mountain Vault thrived while Vault Tec vaults turned humans into monsters and individuals into brainwashed drones. When the doors finally opened, both groups found the world to be a harsh place. But harshness or not, the Mountain Vault was still a home on the wastes."

Sevina, the companion, has come to the Mojave to look for help to reclaim her home vault. The Bruneau Raiders took over the vault and she fled. The NCR is took busy to help. The Courier stumbles upon her in an abandoned shack and offers to help out. They can venture to Idaho then and there, or you choose to go later. Sevina will tag along and comment on your travels.

I know nothing about modding, aside from a few tutorials I have watched. I would love to do all the voice acting for Sevina. If this mod interests anyone, I would appreciate some help or support.

I think it's a good basis for a story, but I have a few suggestions that I hope are in the spirit of constructive criticism.

On a small military base in Mountain Home, Idaho, a different kind of vault was built.

I wouldn't make it a vault per se on the military base. A large vault is an expensive proposition, and a substantial feat of engineering. Plus it's unlikely to be allowed to be constructed by survivalists on military ground (or any civilian construction of that scale that is not related to military support or civilian contractors to the military), before the bombs drop. And if it's done after the primary need for a vault is moot (keeping out the ICBMs).

Instead I'd have them (the Idaho survivalists) co-opt/appropriate the military base, after the war. If it's a small-ish base it may have escaped destruction and could be a great bastion for a survivalist community. Perhaps by joining forces with the military staff/personal at the base they were able to protect themselves, even thrive to some degree.

Something similar happened with the desert rangers of the wasteland game. They were U.S. Army Engineers that appropriated a prison after the war, which became the nexus of their survivalist community (their new faction). Of course that will mean that they would have endured the wasteland for two centuries, but other survivalist communities have done the same. The desert rangers of fallout new vegas are one example. Another example is the survivalist community that not only survived but thrived in the divide (until the courier unknowingly brought home a second apocalypse to their doorstep) which contained pre-war military bases.

You would still have your main story line intact, just a change to teh backstory to more fully support a much more likely scenario for a survivalist community, than building an actual vault on military grounds.

I'm familiar with companion quests and can put together the mechanics if you have a solid story, good ideas and a decent companion.

That's a good idea and it makes more sense. Thanks.

I have quiet a bit of the dialogue and quest summary written up if you want to read it.

Sorry for the late reply, crazy busy week. Taht would be great. You can post it here if you'd like a wider review by members, or PM me if you'd prefer to keep it under wraps. We always need good companion mods, especially fully voiced ones.

Saved the file to my pc, and the dialog looks good, but I was curious if you had any info on the background location (the air-force base) to look over.

On a related topic, I'm going to put out several different varieties of riot gear (ie Heremes/3rd gen combat armor), for military and paramilitary branches, services etc. I was thinking of using them for things like the texas ranger, 101 airborne etc, where mobility is important and power armor was contraindicated. I hadn't planned anything for the airforce per se (other than airforce MPs), but maybe (if I can find the right assets) a air-force pilot riot gear would be in order for her. This would be a combination of riot armor and a military flight suit (flight suit pic);

With pilots being very valuable assets. A light version with basic protection (just like bomber crews had flak jackets), equivilant to Sierra Madre armor/ einforced for a dt of 16 or 18, makes a lot of sense. It would also have additional survival tools built in (say +5 survival), fire retardant qualities, multiple pockets (bit of plus to carrying capacity, say +5 or +10) etc that you'd expect from a flight suit. Maybe the G-suit could have some sort of advantage in the same way that the elite riot gear is supposed to have recoil compensation fibers built in.

Anyway it would give her something unique (very similar to riot gear, but with some distinct difference, like the markings, insignia, goggles & helmet, etc) and would make sense if her origin is a survivalist community leveraging air-force assets (armaments).

Made an album of pictures from google maps and the internet. http://imgur.com/a/p152k

The air force gear would fit in nicely, yeah. I want Sevina to wear something a little lighter, less formal though. I could do some sketches of what I'm thinking too.

I'm afraid the link is giving me an error.

Re: the outfit, I can understand a lighter attire, but what about a option (via dialog) to equip the riot armor when you need a heavier armor loadout. They have that on some companion mods where you might say "relax" or "hang out" and the companion equips light armor or clothing, as opposed to the heavier stuff they normally use for adventuring. I did something similar for Cass, where she has a heavy(ier) armor outfit, but kept enough of her original outfit (her jacket in the first pic, her pants in the second) to tie it together for her style. Pics;

Do you have background/history of the survivalist community, or is that a backstory that won't be detailed?
