All Bipedal Forms of Khajiit as Playable Races and NPC's

Heya, if you're a big Khajiit fan I'm sure you know about the different forms of Khajiit, that the moon phase they're born under determines which form they grow into, such and such. If you're here, reading this on the Nexus forums, then you probably also know some talented people have already made some of the different bipedal forms of Khajiit as playable races.

 

But there's not a mod that brings them all together, and they're in such a way as to be incompatible with eachother. E.G. It's either one form or the other at the moment.

 

There is a mod that adds most of the bipedal forms of Khajiit already, but it doesn't use any of the graphics from the other mods that add one particular Khajiit form.

 

So I'm hoping a modder could come by and merge some of the assets from the various Khajiit form mods and make from it one mod that includes all of the different bipedal forms. I have a picture already of what they look like, and which mods have the assets already made, but without the modding experience I'm unable to actually combine them myself.

By the way, we don't actually know anything about the Tojays or Tojay-rahts, but I based that interpretation on some patterns of the moon phases in relation to the other forms of Khajiit, and I feel that seems to respect the patterns the most. The cat-ears aren't necessarily derived from the lore, but it's a popular moderation of the Khajiit from Dagi Raht Reborn, (although I actually think Dagi's look more like http://static-3.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/37413-1-1371776007.jpg due to their mention of being able to climb trees well and being lighter than Bosmer, from Mixed Unit Tactics) and it makes them further unique from the other forms, so it works out quite well.

 

I could go into more detail behind what brings me to this interpretation, and I gladly will, but I fear if I do this post will end up being 10x longer, so if anyone's interested in the idea I'll give more details related to the projects, as well as the mod list for the above pictures. The current caretaker/updater of Dagi-Raht Reborn, TheUnexpected, has also agreed and shown interest in the prospect of this idea, but I'm posting this idea here still in case others are interested in helping too.

In an ideal world, this project would have two phases:

Phase 1: Merging the assets from the various mods (After obtaining the permissions from them to be able to) to create the different sub-species of Khajiit as playable races.

Phase 2: Changing the Khajiit NPC's around Skyrim to have a variety of forms, so they're not all just one type. The changes would be made based on what seems most logical, e.g. since Ohmes and Ohmes-rahts are the best with talking to other races due to their facial features being more welcoming, the traders at the caravans would likely be Ohmes and Ohmes-raht. The Caravan guards would likely be Cathays and Cathay-rahts, due to them being the best warrior form. Khajiit thieves and assassins, where applicable, would be probably Suthays and Suthay-rahts, with the rest of the Khajiit having a mix between all forms.

I'd do this for you, but I'm a bit busy with another mod at the moment. If nobody takes up your request in the next week or so, I'll try to do this. Until then, I want to leave some tips for you and anyone who may be interested in helping you.

 

First of all, rather than using the existing mods, it would probably be easier to create the races from scratch. That way, you can avoid having to ask permission. Most of the non-vanilla assets can be found in free to use resources around the Nexus.

I'm glad to see you're interested in this. :)

As far as permissions go, the assets for the Ohmes, Ohmes-raht, Tojay and Tojay raht (except the feet for the Tojay/Tojay-raht) are good to go, since TheUnexpected from the Dagi-Raht Reborn mod, which is what those models used, is on board with this idea as well.

 

The (relevant to body-form) mods used for the pictures are as follows:

 

Suthay: True Digitigrade Beast Races WIP http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50637/?, and Digitigrade Beast Races Full DLC Edition http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51097/? (which is a form of the mod you mentioned for the digifeet)

 

Suthay-raht: Same as above, although I did use the Player Size Adjuster mod to get all forms to be different heights, but that would be programmed as a part of the main mod itself anyway

 

Cathay: A Better Body scale for Khajiit and Argonian Males http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/6239/? (This could also probably be programmed as a part of the main thing itself)

 

Cathay-raht: Same as above

 

Ohmes: Dagi-raht Reborn Elven ear edition

Ohmes-Raht: Same as above

Tojay: Same as above, but the non-Elven ear edition, and the Digitigrade mods mentioned above as well although the feet would need to be made to work with the body model.

Tojay-Raht: Same as above

So in other words, if the body height and scale weight can be reproduced, and since the Dagi-raht reborn assets are already okay to use for this purpose, then the only one still needing permissions is the digitigrade resources. I'll ask the author about that soon.

 

By the way, that's a great idea for the head models, and it actually reminded me of something. You know how canon descriptions say the Ohmes can be mistaken for a bosmer but the Ohmes-raht (even with the tail) can be mistaken for a human? Like-wise, Cathay-raht are referred to as 'Jaguar-men' and yet Cathay's aren't. I wonder if part of the reason between these two cases might suggest that raht-forms have curved ears instead of pointed, in addition to their height and build increase. Curved ears on the side would explain the human-instead-of-bosmer similarity. It'd also, as you said, give them some variation. Something against this though is the Suthay-raht in Morrowind, since we know they're Suthay-raht, but have pointed ears. Then again, with the graphics of the game, they are more curved than Oblivion or Skyrim's. Just some thoughts.

 

The quadrupeds would be great to have as well, although that'd be a phase 3 thing in my opinion. If we can get to that point though that would be lovely. Alfiq/Alfiq-raht followers that cast illusion and alteration spells, that take up the same follower slot as the war-dogs and such?
