Mod Town Crime not shown in current crime stats, yet is tracking

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have a town/hold mod called Icicle Valley.

As you know, when we commit a crime in-game it is tracked and displayed in the general stats menu. "Whiterun Bounty 40" etc.

I've just discovered that current crimes commited in Icicle Valley do not appear in general stats. In other words, there is no "Icicle Valley 40" visible. All I can see is Total Lifetime Bounty and Largest Bounty. I am in testing mode, so I have only Skyrim, Update and my mod activated; no other mods active.

Here is what IS working:

-- If a player is caught commiting a crime (other than murder) a guard will approach and give the player choices of paying a fine, going to jail or resisting. (Murder of course is attack-on-sight response.)

-- If the player pays the fine, money is accepted and stolen goods are put in an evidence chest as it should be.

-- The player can sleep off the fine successfully.

-- The player can escape jail and guards will give chase.

So the only problem I have is that there is no bounty listed for Icicle Valley, so the player won't know how much bounty he/she has accrued until a guard shows up. Crime is being tracked; not displayed.

"Yes" In my IcicleValleyCrimeFaction the check box "Track crime" is ticked, and the faction has a name.

The guards have:

IsGuardFaction, GuardDialogueFaction, IcicleValleyCrimeFaction, and an IcicleValleyGuardFaction for their property.

Any thoughts? Thanks, Qaxe

I've not looked into how you add custom stats to display in the menu.

I gather it may be tricky to do if possible.

The reason I say this is I noticed Falskar DLC/Mod the author used a book to display the user tracked crime stats in Falskar.

You get the crime stats book from the Jarls wife in Falskar and it's updated as you your crimes are committed or payed etc.

This way the user looks in the book to see where their crime is at anytime they like.

Thanks very much for the reply. I like that book idea, I'm just really trying to get the standard, boring-ol' current crime statistic that every hold shows in our character's stats when we commit a crime. Nothing fancy. I feel like I missed a step so that it's not showing up properly.

To be honest, I really don't know if a mod town's crime shows up with all the others... maybe it doesn't and I'm expecting too much. Maybe I need to try some other town mods, break some laws, and see if THEIR current bounties are displayed... hmmm.

As I said I haven't looked into adding Custom Crime Stats to the menu.

For all I know the crime hold stats may be hard coded into the skyrim exe

But obviously your able to add stats there if DLC like Dragonborn or Dawnguard are providing stats there.

Maybe dissect them and see what they are doing to add stats.

Aha, so my first mistake was thinking that I was making a mistake. I believed the absence of that stat was an error. Thank you for this link.

First response: "not hard" is relative.

I've begun following the tutorial, but already I'm getting errors when I try to save the script given in the tutorial. The tutorial says I need to edit the script name and stat category, and I've done so, but there must be more edits required that I'm expected to know, but that I do not know.

Not going to give up, but I am stuck for the moment due to lack of information.

Do you have SKSE downloaded? Be sure you download the 7z archive version of 1.7.2 or 1.7.3, NOT the installer.

OH?! That's surprising. Yes, I always use the installer. I believe you, but what is the difference there? Something gets left out in the installer version or put somewhere different? I'll try this out. Thanks for getting back to me.

The installer does not contain the source files, because the average user does not need them. The 7z archive has the source files, which are required whenever you want to script with scripts added by a mod (or in the base game).
