Witcher 3 - can't quit except with task manager...

Hi guys,

 

I have a strange issue with the Witcher 3 which I just installed on a laptop (Win 7 pro, geForce GTX 980) - the game runs fine both online and offline except when I quit, the interface shuts down but the program keeps running in the background, I have to stop it using the Task Manager. I finally realized that because the "launch" button remains greyed out on the GOG interface when I shut down the game and I can't relaunch it.

 

It's a hard copy that I installed with only GOG, thus not using Steam. At first I thought it was because I had installed it on a D drive instead of C so I double checked all the settings but that's not it. I'm no computer wizard and the Witcher 3 install folders are a total mystery to me.

 

I have Skyrim legendary on the same laptop (and same drive) which runs without a hiccup if that is relevant info.

 

Anybody has an idea how I can remedy that strange issue I never had with other games?
