Regarding Site Listed as Pirate Site and more.

According to the Terms of Service of Nexus Mods, Linking to Sites that contain Pirated content and do not adhere to copyright laws is prohibited:

"As well as not linking to adult content or files you may not link to sites or files where you can download files that do not adhere to copyright laws. Examples include sites that include files with rips from other games and stolen work from other mod authors without the authors permission. Ignorance is not an excuse. Before you link to a site YOU should ensure that it is safe to link to. A simple search of the site should tell you very quickly whether its acceptable or not. You may link to individual pages that do not contain nudity, even if some other parts of the site your linking to contain nudity, so long as the page itself that's being linked contains NO nudity."

LL, A site that, according to the general consensus, is listed as a Pirated Site and isn't allowed to be linked to or spoken about. However a quick look at Rule #3 on their site contradict this lie:

"We may be an adult oriented community, but don't be stupid, don't post anything blatantly illegal. Meaning no discussion or assistance with illegal content such as piracy, game cracks, models or textures taken from the assets of other games, or any depictions of underage persons with exposed nudity or in a sexual context."

Another rumor that I've heard is that linking or the discussion of LL is prohibited due to the adult sections of that site, however the paragraph above from The Nexus Mod's Terms of Service contradicts this as well.

"You may link to individual pages that do not contain nudity, even if some other parts of the site you're linking to contain nudity, so long as the page itself that's being linked contains NO nudity."

May an Administrator/Moderator give an opinion on this matter and hopefully see that this is fixed so that the clear childishness towards LL is ended? Also I would like to discuss this matter to great lengths if someone disagrees to what I have written, so please do not close this topic after giving your opinion.

The only barrier to removing LL from the banlist now is the flagrant use of actual pornographic advertisements that link to XXX sites. They're not even behind an age gateway of any kind. I just went back there again to check and I was greeted by a large banner showing women giving blowjobs...animated too.

I had a feeling this issue would come up, but honestly the solution is so simple and honestly I'm surprised most people don't already have this but just get adblocker, with adblocker you can go on the site without any of the pornographic ads cluttering your experience

I know a lot of the people here have a distaste for the members and users over at LL but there are a lot of really kind and helpful people there who have assisted me and thousands of other people that couldn't get help elsewhere, In the end they play the same games we do and help people like we do, they shouldn't be shunned because of their advertisements, heck even this site depends on advertisements for revenue. Not to mention there are tons of mods here that could easily be classified as pornographic but are just fine (Sex Darkness, estrus, etc)

In a way you can also incorporate this into your plans for redesigning the site, for example if someone posted a link to LL and someone clicked on it, they will be warned that the link that they are clicking leads to a site that has adult content unsuitable for under aged users and if they wish to proceed to the site, they would click yes, if not then they would click no.

Honestly there are tons of ways this can be fixed, but if nothing is done then everybody looses, We should be improving community relationships not discouraging them, I really hope you can come up with a solution to end this strife between the communities :)

I don't use adblockers as it would be entirely hypocritical of me, as the owner of a huge site with huge overheads that relies heavily on advertising revenue in order to stay afloat, to use an adblocker on other sites. Having to install third-party software to avoid being shown XXX ads is not a good solution to the problem at all.

It may not be the best solution but it's a start, And some may view it as hypocritical but not in my eyes. Plus adblocker has options so that it can be enabled/disabled for certain sites, like I have it disabled here because the ads aren't that troublesome for me and they help the site out, where I have it enabled over at LL because I really don't enjoy looking at blowjobs when I'm trying to get help with a game or help someone else, thus disabling the ads for one site wouldn't be hypocritical

But like I said something has to be done about the relationship between the Nexus and LL, You guys are slowly loosing members, traffic isn't as high as it used to be and it's obvious. And with other modding sites popping up it's only going to get worse. Improving Community relations is something that's going to have happen sooner or later, Plus an action like this would easily boost the sites reputation because honestly from the things I've heard, things aren't going too well.

Sounds like you've been drinking some of the Kool Aid some of the butt hurt ex-Nexus (banned) members over on LL hand out from time to time over there. Have a play on our statistics page to see how daft an accusation that is.

I don't think I've ever spoken with the owner of LL. In fact, I honestly don't even know who the owner of LL is. If he wants to get in contact then he's welcome to.

On the topic of Nexus-LL relations, we should keep away from name-calling and childish arguments that can be abstracted down to "because I said so". For this to be a productive debate, we need to focus on cold, hard facts instead of telling someone to look up a definition in a dictionary - at that moment, one basically tells the other that they are not worth speaking to, and creates more room for childish hate and wrongful accusations done behind one's back and out of spite.

Regarding pirated content - the content on LL is, as the rules dictate, strictly original or with the approval given by the original creator. Many modders explicitly permit the use of their files for further mod creation with the requirement to be listed in credits, with a not too big number of exclusions. You won't find a damn thing on LL in this field. Not now. Not in the past year. Not in a time frame that matters anymore.

On pr0n content - hating on LL or avoiding it because of content of sexual nature ranging from casual sex to rape and bestiality is a display of the most whopping amount of hypocrisy. The Nexus itself contains mods containing not only explicit sex and prostitution, but also rape and bestiality. The same hypocrisy can be pointed out when talking about original content. Moreover, LL is a forum, a community, and as such it stand on pillars made of normal people of flesh and blood. As a community of such people, LL keeps an open mind and doesn't discriminate LGBT content, bestiality and BDSM (to such an extent that adult mods rival the amount of "common mods"), but imposes limitations on itself -> the best known example is not touching children and steering clear of politics. To put it simply, LL behaves like an educated adult in the modern first world.

Regarding XXX adverts - Being known to harbor large amounts adult modifications and openly discussing about sexual stuff drives away advertising organizations like a man suffering from leprosy scares off a crowd. This is an actual problem LL has.

The only way out of this securing a deal with a non-adult advertisement company, or finding a different reliable source of income for the website.

Alienating LL and sh!tting all over it whenever the opportunity presents itself certainly doesn't help and is a short-sighted practise. Here's why:

THE FUTURE - Nexus had somewhat of a monopoly on large quantities of high-quality mods for many games, but mostly Elder Scrolls... a few years ago.

Right now, Nexusmods only has the advantage of being the Nr.1 Google suggestion for mods.

What makes a modding community thrive is the influx and presence talented modders and forums filled with creative ideas. Today, Nexus only boasts a few high-quality modders and the output of quality content slowly decreases over time.

On the other hand, the competition to Nexus is churning out progress: alpha and beta versions of Skyrim mods injecting TES V with new technologies, mods built with unification projects, Bullet and C. And everywhere one might go, one will certainly find modders strongly criticizing the Nexus.

Putting modders first and making forums the friendliest as possible is the sustainable way to do things, and the LL community is a big family where people gladly help each other out, even though on the internet we're basically strangers.

Today, implementing the sustainable approach is nescessary for Nexus to survive as a significant player on the scene. Bethesda.net is comming and the people over there are sure as hell going to aim for It rivalling Steam and the Nexus. If the Nexus drives talent away from itself, the new guys will rampantly grow until someone establishes a monopoly on quality mods -> in the long run monopoly leads to faltering quality.

Hope some of these arguments provided a different point of view and will help foster better intercommunity relations.

Phosphour.
