I'm curious how many of you chose which ending? I've personally played through each of the four general storylines and I personally like the NCR ending the best.

I tend to go with Mr. House since he wants a high-tech future, immortality (possibly which could benefit me as well), and he would be easy to usurp if the need arises. Granted, having both the NCR and the Legion on both sides of his empire would make things difficult but I'm sure with adequate amounts of bribery he could get the NCR to do as he wants while using the Legion as a common enemy for whoever else he has to negotiate with.

Working under Mr. House to me seems a lot like doing the Yes Man quest except he has a long term plan while I'm basically a one-man army (heck, even if Yes Man was deleted from the network I could take out House and have Emily code up another AI to run the system for me if the need should arise).

So, Mr. House seems like a man with a plan and the brains, tech and resources to carry it out. If there is anyone in the Mojave I like (like the Kings, the Follower, Goodsprings or whatnot) then I just have to keep them in Houses good graces. I don't like the Brotherhood of Steel and its fairly easy to wipe them all out with the right weapons so doing that part of Houses quest line doesn't bother me. I'm sure House could put the brotherhoods bunker and equipment to better use than they did.

The only downside I see to House is that he's running casinos and such instead of building stuff or making medicine... and how he wanted to make the monorail run on time when I have never seen the darn thing. From what I've heard it only goes from the strip to mccarren which is like a ten minute walk. So House is okay in my books but there is the risk that he's just going to waste peoples time trying to make Vegas look pretty instead of building space ships and robots and stuff.

Yes Man and the NCR are kind of tied for second. Yes Man would be great if I could reprogram to be extra loyal and the NCR would be great if I could get money out of them.

The Legion is only good for being disintegrated and possibly being used as an emergency food source if I'm a cannibal, or used as a mutual enemy when dealing with others. I'm tempted to say that I'd heavily choose among the others to ensure that the Legion loses the most. House would take over the Mojave with robots and 'hopefully' protect it in such a way that the Legion could never invade or infiltrate it, a robotic security force means that the legion could never plant spies in Houses Mojave. Yes Man is similar in this respect but if he stays under my command then I could clean up the Mojave, get an economy running, start making more robots, and then send my robotic army out to wipe out the Legion. The NCR would certainly want to wipe out the legion but their incompetance doesn't really inspire me as to their ability to carry that out. I guess I could wipe the legion out personally if I had someone to back me up and any of the three other factions would hopefully provide enough support to do so.

Personally, I liked the Legion ending. they rooted out the powder gangers and fiends, and everyone is generally happy. They really aren't that brutal in conquest(caesar extends his invitation to join the Legion to everyone who's worth it). The only reason the events in Nipton transpired the way they did was because the people there tried to screw over the Legion(not to mention the people there were the scum of the earth anyways), and they were trying to destroy NCR morale. To paraphrase Sun Tzu, if you aren't prepared to do what is necessary in war, then don't go to war. The Legion is prepared to do what is necessary, and in Nipton they did exactly that. Additionally, the Legion is rich, just look at the exchange rates from Denarii to caps vs. NCR money to caps. Legion money is worth 400% in caps, while NCR money is worth 40% in caps. And, if you talk to enough people, Legion lands are the safest around, and the Legion would take out all of the raiders and defend against all outside threats. Another reason they would be better is because they don't allow chems, which cause tons of problems.

I never really liked NCR because they were just one huge bureaucracy, not to mention they're inefficient, poor, and corrupt.

I never liked house because he is kind of sketchy, like someone you could act like your best friend and then stab you in your sleep. Furthermore, he's too vulnerable and reliant on others.

As for yes man, he's even more sketchy than house, especially when, at the end, he says that he's going to change his programming to make him more "assertive" anyone else smell betrayal?

One final thing that i didn't like about the 2 robot army endings is that, well, they use robots. In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, technology will break down, and there aren't any factories to make more securitrons(the vault is just a storage facility), so there just isn't any longevity in those endings.

I prefer the Neutral Vegas endings over the NCR and Legion, but it is a tough choice as to House or Yes Man.

House on the one hand has a vision for the future of mankind. One thing that was a bit of a letdown was that other than how all the groups and The Courier fared under House, the ending credits don't go into much detail about how the more distant future turns out. Stuff such as House mentioning he envisioned rockets to explore the solar system, etc... its not really mentioned at the end how successful things really turned out there.

Yes Man on the other hand lets you decide 100% how to deal with the other factions. One big example here is Brotherhood. Under Yes Man I do not have to destroy them, even though Yes Man complains about this he is cool with it. Thats a big one because I like the Brotherhood. I'm just really unhappy about the way the developers have evolved their story into such a radical bunch of isolationists, but on the other hand I see real hope for them because even in the current story many of their members want to help the outside world more. But lets be totally honest and say I really like them because when I join I get access to all the really good toys :D

I've only done the NCR and Independent Yes Man endings, 'cuz I just can't bring myself to betray the BOS and I just enjoy killing the Legion too much. I picked the NCR one out of those 2, just 'cuz I liked the combat action at the dam a bit more. After reading the above, maybe I will try out the Caesar's of Mr. House endings. The NCR kinda pissed me off when I got them to protect Primm and saw Johnny Nash increase his prices through the roof to deal with the taxes.

Edit: who am I kidding, I doubt I'll ever do the Legion ending - I love hating those guys.

  • 4 weeks later...

I hated the Yes Man ending.

The dialogue at the end made you look evil for taking out the NCR, which pissed me off.

I wanted to do the Yes Man to eventually make a better government system then the legion, house, or NCR.

So if the Yes Man ending made more since, instead of making you look evil I would prefer that.

But the game devs made NCR look like god, and everything else look evil.
