Hi all, I'm a relatively new modder to Skyrim. I can make decent quests and have been able to figure out both the methods for making actors and the methods for making items (however I need to steal the models from preexisting items). I've found it quite difficult to learn the more advanced modding skills off the internet and so was wondering if anyone had a smaller team I could join -- just to get some experience. Of course I would help out in any way I could, no matter how small. I would be fine with working on an incomplete mod, an idea someone had, or just from scratch brainstorming with a couple people. If anyone is interested in having me join their team or willing to teach me some of the finer aspects of Skyrim modding, contact me at " [email protected] ". If you've gotten this far, thank you for your time

Beyond Skyrim always got some small jobs that new modders can do, and is a place practically built for learning and getting better :) There are always "teidous" things that needs to be done, but the more experienced modders doesn't enjoy doing. A perfect thing for new modders to take a chip at, getting experience doing said task and they get to work with some immensely skilled modders!

Thank you, this seems great. Would you happen to have any suggestions as to what type of modding I should try to "specialize" in? What should I try to learn the most?

However if anyone else has any smaller teams in mind, I'd love to hear those as well. The Beyond Skyrim seems like a great mod but perhaps a little hard for an inexperienced modder to learn from. Regardless, I'm still trying to get in to that, but I'd love to hear other suggestions as well.

I recommend starting with interior design, regardless of what you want to specialize in. Do the tutorial on the Creationkit.com site. Then you can easily do simple interiors for the teams :) When you get some more experience, you can delve into exterior, or branch out to do anything from modeling to scripting!

In general, you shouldn't "choose" what to specialize in. Just try everything out, and go where the flow takes you.

And, yes. Everyone, regardless of experience, is welcome over at Darkcreations. We even got the Arcane Univeristy, which aims to give new modders "teachers" and get them to the point they can be of use to the project! If nothing else, I know of a certain very good level designer who would love somebody to take care of navmeshing and the likes ;)

Matth85 are you on the project? Thanks for your advice, I tried to get on to the project and made a thread in the recruitment section. Is there a way to speed up the process? Thanks for all your help, it's made this a lot easier for me.

I am working on a mod, http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23977/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fskyrim%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D23977%26preview%3D&pUp=1 , that I could use some help on. I could definitely use someone who makes interior cells, as well as working on exterior worldspaces, general testing, and even model rigging, if you would be willing to learn that. If you are already going to beyond skyrim, then that's cool, I am sure they need people too, probably more so than me lol.
