kienngu
I usually have 50-60 FPS at all times, but I've noticed that whenever I enter a dungeon with ice in it my drops to 20-30. Walking around in the winterhold and dawnstar areas in the snow biome doesn't seem to cause any fps drops, but dungeons with a snow+ice theme make my fps drop so I'm led to believe it is a problem specifically with ice texture. For example, I was in the midden beneath the college of winterhold and experienced no fps drop UNTIL I wandered into one of the areas that was covered in ice and fps dropped immediately; I tested this by walking into and out of the area. I believe it may be due to the "Ruffled Feather" mod I got recently that includes "Better dynamic snow" and "Just-Ice" mods which change snow and ice texture, but seeing as I have uninstalled it since and nothing has changed it might have altered some kind of .ini setting that I have to revert manually? The only graphic mods I am running at the moment are "Dragon Warrior Effects" and "Skyrim Flora Overhaul". Has anyone experienced something similar or know a fix for this problem? Please help. kienngu
Turned off dragon warrior effects and flora overhaul and confirmed that they have no effect on the fps drop in icy places; I am still getting 20-30 in those places without them. Also teleported to a few icy dungeons and can confirm that they all cause fps drops while no regular dungeons/caves do. So it's definitely ice related somehow, even with vanilla graphics (or not? I tried enb once, not sure if it's fully removed).
ZelenEagle
you can always make a backup save, delete skyrim and then download it again, that'll help if you cant find the problem
kienngu
Ran the game from steam without mod organizer and there's no fps drop at all in vanilla version so now I'm definitely confused. The problem has to stem from a mod then? The only mod graphic mod I have is dragon warrior effects and turning that off does nothing. Is there a way for previous visual mods I have since uninstalled to leave hidden traces because I don't think it's any of the mods I have now that are doing it. ZelenEagle
yes i have a sort of similar problem with mods leaving traces so now my jumps are messed up even after deleting them, i just use other mods to fix those kind of problems
jpm22112
HiI had a similar problem that in certain areas my FPS would drop like crazy, turns out it was a problem with enhanced lights & FX and smim, don't know if this helps but thought I would mention it.
