I am looking for people to help me make a big mod I'm working on currently for Skyrim. The mod is called "The Black Legion" and has 1 voice actor and me just working on it so far. I need a team of people to help me make this mod possible because it's too much for me to handle by myself. The mod is a quest driven, fully voiced, new lands mod.

I need:

  • Someone to work on the terrain.
  • Someone to work on the interior and exterior of the buildings/dungeons.
  • A writer to fill in all the gaps in the story and to write the dialog.
  • An artist to design the logo and work on other things.
  • A mesh and/or texture artist.
  • A programmer for the scripts.
  • Someone to work on the quests.
  • More voice actors in the future (They're not needed now but will be).

I will make sure the team works together and I will also be helping everyone with each of their assignments. I'm currently working on the castle so the Black Legion can have a base. I'm also working on the dialog for 2 characters and I hope I can gather a team so we can have fun making this mod together.

Do you have anything to show yet? If so, post it, because people will be more likely to sign on if they know that they will not be doing all the work. I know you said you have a voice actor, but that's not enough. Post some screenshots or something, and if you don't have those, then I am sorry to say that it might be a bit early for you to be making this thread.

Unwarranted advice, I realize, but take it from someone who has tried, failed, and gotten advice from the experts on what you are trying to do. I wish you the best of luck!

Questions you might be thinking of:

Do you have anything to show yet?

I want to make it a surprise to the community so that's why I'm keeping pictures to a minimum. I have a sneak peak picture on my Twitter and on Nexus here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?showtopic=3258394&hl=

I messed up the resolution on that picture for Nexus but the one on my Twitter has a higher resolution.

The people I need to help me will NOT be doing everything. I am trying to put as many hours as I can each day working on this mod. The mod is about a week in development and all I have done so far is built an unfurnished main hall for the castle, I am currently working on the wizards quarters and the exterior of the castle. In that week I was busy sorting other things out so I couldn't work on the mod for a few days so I haven't been able to do as much as I wanted to do in a week. I'm leaving the rooms unfurnished so I can get them done faster then go back and furnish them (like your mean't too).

The next thing after the wizards quarters is an underground forge and I'm not rushing any of the rooms because I want to put as much detail as possible into them.

How to get more info on the mod.

To get more info on the mod you can try and contact me by Email or on my Steam and Twitter. If anyone is interested in working with me on the mod they will be shown the story so far, what has been done and what is going to be done. If they're not interested I would say it's a surprise and ask them to not tell anyone any of the details.

I think the story for the mod I have come up with so far is cool and it still needs to be worked on and all the gaps filled.

Will I not help anyone part of the team?

The way I want to organise everything is to have certain people working on certain parts of the mod. A terrain level designer would be working with generating land then adding roads, trees, paths, grass, etc.

I will be helping everyone with each of their certain projects. I would ask the terrain designer if I could have an update then I might help him/her a little bit by working on some forests and natural landmarks. I would also work with the writer/s to work on the dialog, quests and story.

I always wanted to make custom armour and weapons for Skyrim so I'v always been interested in mesh/texture design. So I would help pretty much anyone with their projects on the mod. I will be organising everything for the team of course, but everyone in the team will have a say on what happens with the mod. I hope that the team will be updating each other on whats going on so we can make sure that everyone is at the same pace as everyone else.

What will you be doing when you're a member of the team?

You will get to work on what you specialise on and you will get to work with other people that relate to what you're working on.

You will be invited to a Steam group so everyone can talk about whats going on with the mod or anything else. It will also keep everyone updated on the progress on the mod and will make sure everyone is in contact with each other other steam so we can update each other on the mod

What happens if nobody joins the team?

I will still work on it by myself but the quality of the mod will go down. There wouldn't be many quests, it would take a very long time to make and I would have to make the map small because I would be spending all my time working on other things. I would also struggle to get the characters voiced and all the meshes and textures done because those take a lot of time up to do too.

I might end up giving up on it and making it a smaller mod because I want to still work on other things too.

@"A programmer for the scripts."

Do you foresee any extraordinary scripting needs?

If not, than it could be the same person as "someone to work on the quests", because the skillset overlaps considerably.

I rushed the list of people I need. You do have a good point simtam.

I guess you can't do anything by surprise on Nexus can you?

I just wanted to work on something without letting everyone knowing whats going on so it's more exciting. I'm a bit annoyed that everyone needs verification and a ton of spoilers before working on a mod.

Also gnarly1. If you read the other post I made that answers most questions people might ask. You can see that I wrote:

"I want to make it a surprise to the community so that's why I'm keeping pictures to a minimum." and "I am trying to put as many hours as I can each day working on this mod. The mod is about a week in development and all I have done so far is built an unfurnished main hall for the castle, I am currently working on the wizards quarters and the exterior of the castle. Because nobody is willing to give me a helping hand without there being lots of spoilers and me having lots of "credibility" I will put the mod on hold. In that time I will work on some other things such as player homes and other mods while I TRY to gather a team. If this isn't successful I will make the mod myself and suffer the quality going down.

I hope everyone is happy with themselves. Putting pressure on me to stop working on the mod.

Nobody puts their belief in you anymore ;-;

There is a difference between advice and disbelief. Nobody here is trying to pressure you into anything.

My advice, should you take it, would be to contact active modders (those with skills you need) directly over pm. From there you can share as much information as they require to get them interested in your project. Then the worst that could happen is that they decline, and one person out of the entire community won't be surprised whenever you release your work.
