Lex3x
Okay, so I have the mod Skyrim HD 2k Textures - LITE and it's great. All is lovely... however, I lag like all hell when in forested areas. No doubt because of the higher resolution graphics on the trees. Is there any way I could lower the resolution on trees or install some sort of... low res tree texture mod if there's even one out there? I don't want to remove the entire mod because everywhere else runs smoothly, it's just forested areas my computer can't seem to handle. Any ideas on how I might be able to fix this? ^^; Keep in mind, I'm running ENBoost (I don't actually use an ENB though) and a bunch of other stability/functionality type tweaks and all so I don't need any more of those... just need a way to lower the tree res or something without making them look TOO atrocious or removing them all together. I also prefer -not- to disable shadows from my game if I can help it- last resort.
Demonikone
you can manually replace textures in the below directory skyrim\data\textures\... Also I am unsure why you would run ENBoost if you NOT using an enb... it seems rather pointless as it would provide very little IF any preformance gain depending on your machine you could look at the I cant Believe its NOT enb series to enhance graphics, though I would recomend using Imaginator and Dynavison to tweak the look you want, less saturation etc etc... another thing you could look at is lowering your overall view distance slightly and getting something like supreme volumetic fog to hide the less rendered distant terrain... just some thoughs, i hope they are in some way helpful here is a tutorial on installing textures... you should be able to use the info to help replace some of the 2k textures with lower rez ones https://youtu.be/AliNzb5aoMY Edited October 19, 2015 by Demonikone
Lex3x
A couple of places I visited said that if I install the ENBoost thing it could help out even if I'm not using an ENB. So far it's fixed my random CTD's so I think it did something right. :) And I know where to install textures and all, just wasn't able to find any "low res" tree textures to download or something. Unless removing the 2K HD LITE tree textures could somehow help... Not sure if deleting that would be a good or bad idea, though... Figure if I do that, it'd revert just the trees to their vanilla basics?
Demonikone
awesome, didnt mean to imply you didnt know HOW it was more just a clarrification well you COULD extract the textures.BSA and just overwrite the specific textures you wanted to lower the resolution of, I am also under the belief that extracted bsa's CAN help with faster loading and hence reducing lag  again, just trying to be helpful  Edited October 19, 2015 by Demonikone
Lex3x
I didn't mean that to sound as if I was offended or anything! I was just saying. :) Really sorry if the way I wrote that implied otherwise.

All good :P btw http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3812/? they seem to have a low, med and high rez version
Lex3x
Oh, awesome! I saw that mod on Google but passed it by thinking the HD bit implied it likely wouldn't have low-res texture options. That'll teach me not to make assumptions! Thanks ^^ I'm gonna give this a go and see if it doesn't make my travels in the forests less horrific. ;)
Demonikone
let me know how it goes :) hope it helps, if not I will see if u can find you something else decent ;)
Lex3x
That seems to have done the trick! Muuuch less laggy now. Still have a few lag spikes here and there but I think that's partly due to my perhaps slightly unwise decision to lessen fog and such in the distance. Think I'm gonna re-enable that and get a little bit of my performance back. ^^; Thanks again!
Demonikone
youre welcome, again you could look at the supreme volumetic fog mod but then that MAY backfire so i would read up about it first :P i use it myself but my machine is a bit of a monster really
