STEP Extended + REGS: Need advice to perfect my installation with complementary and stable mods

Hi everyone.

I'm about to finish my STEP 2.2.9.1 plus REGS 4.0.6 installation and so far everything looks pretty much stable.

My Rig: i7 3930K @ Stock, GTX 680 Phantom 4GB @ Stock, 8GB DDR3 1333 @ Stock, Windows 10x64 & Skyrim on SSD

Performance STEP with STEP Extended before REGS installation can be seen in the first graph (red/green) I've attached, in numbers:

FPSmin 39, FPSmax 98, FPSavg 65, VRAMavg 2102 MB, GPUloadavg 86 %, GPUtempavg 65 °C, GPUpoweravg 111 W, CPUloadavg 18 %, RAMavg 298 MB, Pagefileavg 27 MB, SSDavg 10 MB/s

Performance REGS (=current performance) with STEP Extended and REGS (a modular addon pack for STEP) can be seen in the second graph (yellow/blue), in numbers:

FPSmin 37, FPSmax 100, FPSavg 65, VRAMavg 2090 MB, GPUloadavg 85%, GPUtempavg 63 °C, GPUpoweravg 109 W, CPUloadavg 17%, RAMavg 283 MB, Pagefileavg 28 MB, SSDavg 11 MB/s

Performance unfriendly areas are currently:

Cities due to JK's Major Cities, Villages due to Enhanced Cities and Towns

Performance required:

I have no problem with being as low as 25fps in average in cities. I also don't mind having tons of graphical upgrades for dungeons and the like as I got absurd framerates there. However, the game still needs to be playable in the wilds, this will be the biggest problem. I can live with smooth 30fps as long as I got no severe drops. This isn't a competitive online game so graphics go over maximum smoothness while fighting.

I had to manually ensure compatibility of REGS as it was a bit outdated compared to STEP. Before starting to add further mods in addition to that I will go through every single STEP and REGS mod and look for patches and installation options I may have overlooked or I haven't had in mind regarding the mods yet to add.

I regard this as a base setup I'd like to expand before starting my playthrough.

What I like to add:

Optics/Weather

Vividian ENB

Vivid Clouds and Fogs

Vivid Snow

Climates of Tamriel

Expanded Snow Systems for CoT

Supreme Storms for CoT

RCRN

anything important missing...?

Environment

Skyrim Bigger Trees Lite

Verdant Grass

anything important missing...?

Gameplay

PerMa + SkyRe modules OR SkyRe

Perhaps a combat (Ultimate Combat?)/magic (Apocalypse Spell Package?) module/overhaul but if possible I'd like to go with the according SkyRe modules to ensure maximum stability/compatibility

ASIS (probably not needed if using SkyRe modules?!)

Alternate Start - Live another Life with addons like Legacy of the Dragonborn

AutoSave Manager

anything important missing...?

Factions/NPCs/Encounters

Civil War Overhaul (yes, I know, but I can live with having to use the console for a few times in exchange for that awesome experience)

Immersive Patrols (or War Zones or whatever fits CWO best)

OBIS (I can already smell heavy script overload)

Perfect Legionnaire (caused naked NPCs and such in the past but I'm sure there's a solution)

Immersive Creatures (I LOVE this and need to have it in)

High Level Enemies

Revenge of the Enemies

Deadly Dragons

Dovahkriid, Monster Mod, Strong Enemy Extreme (haven't used them before but they were recommended to me?!)

Followers

Extensive Follower Framework (still the best around?)

All voiced (!) followers that fit the lore

Player Homes

All non overpowered player homes that are compatible with the mods above and don't increase instability, unfortunately I'm completely new to this area

Armors, Weapons and Clothing

A whole bunch of new lore friendly clothing that can be purchased and found at NPCs. cupboards and so on

A whole bunch of new lore friendly armors that can be purchased and found at enemies, chests and so on

A whole bunch of new lore friendly weapons that can be purchased and found at enemies, chests and so on

Probably a tool to add all that stuff to leveled lists (Lootificator or whatever its called?!)

Body/Physics

UNP with HDT is what I would prefer but if there's something else realistic I'm open

SexLab

With a low priority. If it overloads scripts or decreases performance heavily its out. I've already had an immersive setup without all that over the top junk like most DD mods but as said, if everything else is running fine and I can add it safely its okay, if not then its out.

Merging Mods

I only tried this once and totally f***ed up but I will need to get rid of esps in order to achieve such a list!

Now, if any of you is running a similar setup, I would love to get some advice on all or single areas of my dream setup. My last modlist was more basic and over a year old, so unfortunately I'm everything but up to date when it comes to Skyrim mods. Also, I see me having 20fps in average with the above so do you know what's the biggest performance hits? An ENB is MUST and I love Vividian and I know his weather mods aren't performance heavy. Probably more something like Bigger Trees or Verdant?!

Thank you in advance!

This is done by now. I went through all (!) mods in my list and noted all possible patches available for each of them. I've installed a hand full of compatibility patches that were missing before and am ready to install anything else.

First thing I did then was installing the Optics/Weather part as I already was sure to use Vividian ENB and its dependancies.

- Vividian ENB 7.3 default preset installed

- Vivid Snow installed, tried the physics version first but it led to script overload, now using the non physics variant

- Vivid Clouds and Fogs installed, looks great and works fine

- Climates of Tamriel installed

- Expanded Snow System for CoT installed

- Supreme Storms for CoT installed

- All compatibility patches (AOS2, Realistic Water 2,...) installed

- RNCN left out as I wasn't sure if I would benefit from it and as the instructions were a bit frightening

- other weather mods (Pure) left out as I was confused, Vividian offers to have Pure Weathers aswell as CoT installed while PW says it would be incompatible with CoT

This was the results

Although I've spent about 2 hours with making sure the installation and load order was correct, I am still unsure if everything's fine by now. Unfortunately, the load order suggestion by Vividian ENB is more than a year old and contains some files that in the meantime were renamed or don't exist anymore. If anyone could help me there I'd be very grateful!

The ENB aswell as the weather looked fine, although I think somehow Minty's Lightning mod interpreted fog as rain and produced lightning. Do you think I can leave it like that or should something be changed?

Other than the ENB and weather, I've also tried the following:

- Verdant Grass, looks great and brings the overall graphics to a whole new level, however it reduces the average framerate in the wilds from ~30-40 to ~20-30, sometimes even below that, not sure if I can keep it

- Sounds of Skyrim, as soon as I found out that AOS (and other mods) provide compatibility patches for SoS I've installed it and it is still great

- Immersive Citizens, as by now there's a patch for ETaC and I couldn't observe weird behaviour in JK's Cities, needs way more testing tho

Anything?
