FO4 reading Loose Swf?

Hey,

I was wondering if there is a way to get FO4 to recognize loose swf files? I've extracted the interface.ba2 and edited some of the swf files for a 'trial and error'. but, when i place the swf in the file path (fallout4/data/interface/xxxxx.swf) nothing happens. So is there a different step i could take? or am i missing something?

Thanks for your time.

Assuming you intend to editing existing swf files in the Interface directory, just having "sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, INTERFACE\, SOUND\, MUSIC\, VIDEO\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\" in Fallout4.ini should do it.

If you're adding new sfw files, that'd be a bit more complicated.

If Loose SWF files can be detected..... then i'm probably missing a step in the SWF edit... That is what i am confused about. So if SWF files CAN be read from loose directories, then i must be missing a step in the SWF edit directly.... Well, time to go look back over the SWF's i suppose. hehe...

I have edited the scopemenu.swf and it works fine as loose file.

Are you sure you have put it into the the right path/sub folder?

There is also a mod that uses an edited "loadingmenu.swf", but it is packed into an .BSA file. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2605/?

Maybe you could try packing your file into a BSA file. I dont have experience in packing things into BSA, so maybe someone else could help you with that.

From my experience editing hudmenu.swf I simply put it into Interface, with the appropriate .ini edit to make sure loose files are loaded. Just FYI (at least with hudmenu) I didn't even have to restart the game to test any changes, assuming the file was there when I started the game. Once you've saved an edited .swf into the Interface directory, reloading a saved game (should) reload your file from disk. Just to save you time once you get it working.

What method did you use to edit hudmenu.swf? I tried editing it (decompiled it with JPEXS free decompiler) and I think I broke it (crashes my game).

I've been able to successfully edit the status icons, special icons, and perks. For some reason the default vault boy image doesn't show the edits I've made.

I use JPEXs exclusively, will sometimes export to an XML and use Notepad++ just to search / compare values but I do all my edits in the JPEXs GUI. I'm only editing the scale/translation, etc of already embedded shapes/sprites and sometimes removing or adding new placements or frames for them. I haven't tried inserting new or altered shapes or clips. My experience is really limited in these matters, I've been learning through exploration and trial and error. I did recently discover while playing with the Workshop.swf that I don't even have to reload the game to see changes - simply activating the menu will cause the swfload script to call the file again from disk :)

Yeah same here, been learning through trial and error. Also that's a cool trick to know, will make adjustments go faster since you don't have to exit out and restart the game.

I've got a strange one and I'm not sure where to start. I have edited all the UI menus for my Southpaw UI but I'm having an issue with the main title menu. The edits only show once in a while and I have noticed if I start a new game when they are showing they reset back to default.

I find this odd because as soon as the game loads a save or gets to the intro Movie everything works properly.

This is the first time I have ever edited .swf files so the issue could be entirely on my end.

Any thought to what is causing the issue?
