req: replace fricking lockpicking

So you find an old tool box, oh no I don't know ho to pick locks so I'll just abandon it. Yeah right.

Pretty much everything that's locked in F4 should have a rational way to open it. A tool box? Pry it open with a knife or screwdriver. Old door? Blow the lock out with a gun or punch it out with a hammer. Safe? Some explosive will do the trick. Bank vault? Mininuke time!

This has been so obvious since F3 (not to mention the ES games) yet B insists on the silly minigame.

Lockpicking is already easy, it's just that it's so stupid.

I sort of agree with you... if you had a set of actual lockpicks that weren't apparently made out of termite riddled balsa, it wouldn't be as annoying. Skyrim has the same problem. The most annoying thing is that the lockpick doesn't take any stress when a lock is picked, it's the wrench (the technical term for the tool you turn the lock with; in Fallout 4 it's a screwdriver) that does. There's no REASON lockpicks should break.

If the rewards were worth it, it'd be different, but I've broken four picks on an expert lock and gotten crap like three bullets and a can of dog food.

You can unlock things with the console by hitting ` , click the safe, toolbox, terminal, whatever, and type 'unlock'. If it says 'Unlocked safe' (or whatever you clicked on) then it worked. There are a few where it doesn't work, for some reason.

Using the console is not a satisfactory solution =in abt way.

Fallout 3 had a mod that let you use cherrybombs to open locks (or something like that, it's been a long time).

There's been a number of mods like that for F3 and FNV, Project Nevada for FNV even had an option where you could use an explosive near a locked door and it would be blown open.
