Should i use HDD or SSD?

I'm transitioning from console to PC, so I'm a bit green when it comes to modding and and im sure ill be erasing loads of mods till i find the right combination for my playstyle. Since i can damage my ssd if i erase files i was thinking of finding the right combination on HDD then transfering over to SSD when im done.

Is there any easy way to do this, or is it even possible at all since ill be buying the game on steam? Also, is it worth it? Skyrim was horribly slow on the ps3 but will it still be this bad on a new pc?

My rig in short, will post in more detail if need be:

Cpu: i7 6700k

Ram: g.skill trident z 16gb (2x8gb) ddr4 3200mhz

Graphic card: Asus r9 390 8gb strix OC

Motherboard: Asrock z170 pro 4

As i said, im new to the PC and also to forums! So if im doing anything wrong, please correct me. Many Thanks, in advance:)

SteamMover is a nice little application that will setup and move over the files from a game to a different drive. Although I really would not worry about hitting your write limit. Unless you're changing all your mods every day for a year, you're not likely to hit it. In general, SSD write limits are only a concern in data centers, where files are rewritten constantly.
