Mod updates

I'd like to know if there is a best practice when updating an installed mod? If I have mod v1 installed and mod v2 comes out, I normally let the new version overwrite the old and leave both installed. I'm wondering though if I should a) uninstall the original mod and then install the updated version b) install the updated version and then delete the old version c) continue as I have been, overwrite the old and leave it alone. Thanks for your input.

Best practice definitely is to disable and completely uninstall the old Version before upgrading . In fact, quite a few mods even require ( as in tell you in bold letters "YOU HAVE TO DELETE THE OLD VERSION COMPLETELY" on their decription page) you to do so .

As Kastergir said, uninstall old completey 1st, unless the author specifically says its a hot fix or to overwrite the old one. Also, as a general practice, you should put the new esp in the load order as the original.

Thanks for the replies. I try to follow the authors directions when available, but sometimes they don't specify. I'll go ahead and disable and uninstall the old before I install the new. I'm using LOOT for load order but will do a backup before installing the update.

Check the Armorsmith mod's webpage. In the posts and FAQ sections the author has some good info regarding load order there.
