Help, Save states?(How and what?)

So my girlfriend told me that she used to have multiple save states for her skyrim mod setup, so when she wanted she could switch between load order x which had a number of mods and load order y which had a different set of mods and load order z which had a different set of mods.

Basically i want to be able to keep all the mods i have in one setup and setup another for more experimenting and running just different and conflicting mods with different characters. What mod or tool do i need to do this or what are the suggested tools? She said she thought skyebash did it, but as of the moment I cant seem to figure out how and it's been too long for her to remember what she did(and she doesnt have the files anymore due to getting new pcs at different times).

You can use Nexus Mod Manager or Mod Organizer to have different 'profiles' these profiles is what allows you to have different mods activated/deactivated from game to game. Mod Organizer is a bit better with truly keeping games apart, including savegames, but Nexus Mod Manager is nice, and also a bit easier to use if you are a first timer to all of this.
