Are all crafting stations considered safe storage?

I figure this should be common knowledge but I can't find a simple answer for the life of me.

My question is this: are all crafting stations safe storage?

I don't want to bother with settlements anymore, at all, whatsoever, (at least until some drastic, fundamental changes are made), and would prefer to simply use the Red Rocket stations dotted across the map to stash loot for a very mobile, settlement-free playthrough with the exception of the initial RR.

I'm hoping someone knows the answer from personal experience because I'd hate to set up a half dozen caches of equipment across the map only to find that they reset to empty. I've always emptied non-settlement work benches after I was done with them out of habit, but now I want to try relying on them entirely.

Well, you can use the SETTLEMENTS dotted across the map, without building anything there, if you don't want to build. Just use the workbench, exit, that's it, it's your settlement and safe now. And as long as it doesn't produce anything, AFAIK it will never get attacked.

So what's the downside to using those? There's more of them than Red Rocket stations with travel markers anyway.

Personally I might drop a mattress if the place doesn't already have one, because xp bonus. And since I play mostly stealth, I'm nocturnal, so it helps if I can just sleep until night somewhere nearby. It works the same for people who are diurnal, though, just you sleep at a different time.

But that's optional fluff. Most have at least a sleeping bag already anyway. And if it doesn't and you can't be bothered, then you don't have to place a mattress anyway.

I didn't say make your own containers. Use the workshop at a settlement as a container.

Edit: in fact, frankly, I would advise against using your own containers. Raiders and settlers can take stuff from normal containers, but not from the workshop.

That's odd. My understanding was that a successful (for the attackers) raid could result in things going missing from the Workshop. =0[.]o=

Well yeah, self-crafted containers work fine. I'm just trying to avoid all settlement elements for the time being, so making my own containers won't be an option with this character.

Let me give you THE option for your character, for as far as i understand it: He\she's a survivalist, right?

Well, only take the most important things with you: some food, water, a good rifle, ammo, not even armor.

You do not 'need' armor to survive.

And leave everything else that you find behind.

That may well be, but I was talking about using empty settlements as storage. If they're not producing any water or food at all, there are no raids on them, successful or not.

Plus, the attack still needs to be successful for them to get anything. Whereas even in an unsuccessful attack, people pick stuff up. Both your own settlers and the attackers. So you may well end up having to deal with some smart gunner that helped himself to your spare X-01 PA and your pimped up gatling laser. Not after they succeed, but right in the middle of the attack. They don't get the laser and, well, at least the PA pieces (and I've never seen them use an empty frame), if they're in the workshop. Unless they're successful, maybe, but at least you have a chance to prevent that.
