Alien mod in new vegas? Legal qestion about using MZ assets

Hi! I am in the process of making an alien mod in New Vegas, and i want to use assets from mothership zeta. I woudnt be including the bsa's themselves obviously, but my question was would it be legally ok to upload as a part of my mod a modified esm that basically makes it so i can use the mothership zeta assets in the new vegas editor without having to reimpliment every individual asset in new vegas, and then worry about making sure users would only need to copy the bsa files from their fallout 3 folder to make it work. Is this still not in the legal safe zone as far as what can be uploaded to the nexus?

To be clear, I WOULDNT be uploading any assets, just some of the geck metadata that makes the assets usable in the geck. The quests, worldspaces, and cells would NOT be incuded in this file.

Thank you in advance for the help!

I just make my stuff like that Tale of Two Wastelands dependent to play it safe, personally, but I have noticed that even though I uploaded literally the same mod just converted and with more content for TTW, the fallout 3 version has more downloads and endorsements.

I am curious what a moderator would have to say about it though, because the most common question I got asked about it was if I could make a non TTW dependent version for new Vegas.

As long as you require the user to supply the FO3 meshes themselves, it's fine.

You CANNOT include any of those files with your mod.

what about if I were using a creature I reskinned? Since I couldn't use a texture set for my chimeras, I had to make duplicates of the main .nif of it with altered texture paths to achieve all 11 variants, but other than that and the fact that the textures were painted directly over (copies of) the originals, I didn't include any animations or the skeleton. Do you think that'd be OK? I'd love to have a non TTW dependent version of my TANKS for new Vegas.

Mothership Zeta Content Restored by Ruadhan2300 already does this, so 1. yeah it's legit to create form entries for existing zeta assets in the FONV BSAs, and 2. it's already done for you.

As you probably already surmised you can't because you would be including a nif that doesn't exist in FONV's BSA, ie copyright material from Fallout 3. Assuming we're talking about the same chimera from FO3 OA. Why wouldn't you be able to use texture sets and just have users add the nif themselves manually?

As far as I can tell, there's no option to use texture sets on creatures, just the model list tab to swap out the body, so basically I had to change the texture paths of the one nif in nifskope on each one.

It'd still probably be a moot point anyway because the textures aren't from scratch either. I literally painted over the star on the original op anch Chinese version and did all the camos and whatnot over those base textures.
