ColeSomers Posted April 11, 2016 Share Posted April 11, 2016 I recently began playing Skyrim again after that one Nexus update had to uninstall all my mods. I deleted all of them, reinstalled Skyrim, and then decided to start over with mods. I already have about 70 plugins. While Loot has found files needing cleanup, there are no errors present; Loot can't detect any conflicts. So, in game, I began using Alternate Start, in a campsite just outside Helgen. I farted around Riverwood for a while and then decided to get on with the main story a little bit. As I began walking down the mountain road to Whiterun, I got a CTD all of a sudden. No warning. After trying a few more times from different directions, I had determined the Whiterun area is the problem. I verified the game cache, and one file was replaced. I reloaded a previous save and started the Alternate Start quest, thinking maybe tying up the loose ends with the beginning quest would help. Nope. CTD on approach to Whiterun. I disabled all active mods, loaded a save and used the console to reveal all the map icons. Whiterun and Dragonsreach were oddly absent. I tried fast traveling to Whiterun Stables, CTD. I uninstalled Skyrim completely and reinstalled it, all mods still disabled. Tried again. No Whiterun or Dragonsreach map icons, and CTD when approaching Whiterun. I don't know what else to check. Could SKSE be doing this? I doubt it. Most of my mods have to do with custom skeletons, CBBE/HDT, textures, improving meshes, adding clothes/armor/weapons, "run away" scripts... As far as I know, none of my mods do anything in regard to Whiterun. Does anybody have any clue what might be going wrong? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

ColeSomers Posted April 12, 2016 Author Share Posted April 12, 2016 Yes, that was one of the first things I did. It replaced 1 file but it didn't resolve the problem. And then I totally uninstalled and reinstalled the game, which also didn't work. When I get home I think I'll try uninstalling again and seeing if there's still mod content present. Maybe my quick and dirty method of getting rid of my old mods left some odd files hanging around that are causing problems. Maybe I should just delete the whole skyrim folder inside steam/steamapps/common once the game is uninstalled. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also check in Documents/My Games/Skyrim , usually its just your save games, but sometimes .ini's end up there... It must be something like a corrupt file, anyways good luck! ColeSomers Posted April 12, 2016 Author Share Posted April 12, 2016 Alright, yeah, a full uninstall and deletion of Skyrim's Steam folder and Documents folder, and then reinstall, worked fine.
