Hi I was hoping someone could help me. I recently got a new comptuer and picked up fo4 and immediately started installing mods, only a few graphics adons and gameplay tweaks and now after having to swap hardware and reinstall windows nmm tells me i have no fallout 4 ini even though its in documents>my games> fallout 4. I'd really appreciate anyones help on this. I've reinstalled nmm and fo4 mutiple times with no luck.

Try deleting the existing ini files and then run Fallout using the Fallout.exe at least one time. This will regenerate the ini files. Hopefully this will fix your problem. Then you can launch Fallout via NMM if that's what you prefer.

delete all your ini files, and the fallout4 exe and launcher , then verify the file cache through steam.

I have the same problem, I highly doubt the problem has anything to do with steam or fallout 4 itself, since the files do exist. 99.99999999% sure that its NMM that's having issues. Verifying game does not help, neither does deleteing existing files and running the game to get new ones, ive tried multiple times. Also Steam is not reporting any issues with the game.

It's not just NMM I tried using FO4Edit today and it cannot locate the ini files either.

FO4Edit 3.1.3 EXPERIMENTAL starting session 2016-04-21 17:08:30
Using Fallout4 Data Path:
Using ini:
Fatal: Could not find ini
Soooo, yeah....Fun stuff...
Good luck,
Geoff
EDIT - Fixed the issue I had. Tried all the above methods didn't work until instead of deleting the ini's in my documents fallout 4 folder and the folder itself in another attempt, I changed it's name and launched through steam. Don't know why that worked but there are various folder bugs I've encountered on win7 before like not being able to delete one claiming it does not exist and having to use cmd to move it to desktop, rename it and delete, etc.

It's a bug, all you need to do is create a file (even if it's empty) and save it as Fallout4Custom.ini in you documents folder along with Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini

THAT"S the ini file that NMM is looking for that it can't find.

I did this and it still didn't fix it. Am I maybe doing it wrong?
