Feeding The Troops - No More Stealing My Settlements!

The Brotherhood of Steel... or Steal?

If you've worked hard on some settlements you're not going to take kindly to handing it over to the Brotherhood Of Steel if you are allied with them and take on their radiant quest 'Feeding The Troops'.

No, Brotherhood. You can lend the crops, but the place doesn't belong to you.

Any chance that a mod could exist (asap!) of either handing the settlement back to you right after turning in the quest, or otherwise preventing it from being take out of your hands in the first place? I tire of having a dozen or more radiant quests hogging my Pip-Boy's quest list.

Or at least the Brotherhood ought to provide actual settlement protection in exchange for crops.

I like this idea!

I want to expand on this request a bit.

We have the 4 main factions (BoS, RR, MM, and Inst) but the MM are the only faction to actually "control" settlements and allow you to build them. Now, if you can align each settlement individually to a faction, then you can set p supply lines between settlements that are under control of the same faction.

For example, you've unlocked Sanctuary, Red Rocket, Abernathy Farm and Gray Garden. You've played far enough to be a "member" of all factions, but not far enough that any kick you out. You align one settlement to each faction (MM>Sanc, BoS>Red Rocket, RR>Gray Garden, and Inst >AF), but you can't assign supply lines due to this. Next, you piss off RR, so you take Gray Garden and align it to BoS, and now you can establish a supply line between Red Rocket and Gray Garden, but not the other 2. And depending on what faction the settlement is aligned to would unlock something in the special menu.

Bos would give a Vertibird, MM would give Artillery as normal, RR would give a "Supply Drop" that would randomly restock with food, water, ammo, weapons etc. The Inst could give you a the ability to build Gen 1 or 2 synths like to how you can build robots with Automatron installed. If you are considered an enemy of a faction and there are settlements that are aligned to them, that settlement becomes hostile to you and you can regain control of it by killing everyone and retaking it that way. Or they could stay friendly with you, but you have to convince them to join another faction before you can continue to build the settlement up.

BoS doesn't actually "control" the settlement. It removes old control, if any, but doesn't set up anything of it's own. Hence you may be sent to the same settlement over and over again, and each time BoS will "control" that settlement. Hence any mod to extend the "Feeding the troops" quest is a bit hard to implement. Perhaps, it could spawn some temporary soldiers, but you could do it using a bat too.

If somebody wants to spawn non-temporary soldiers, you can use this mod, Constructible Guards. I've used it with no problems. It includes BOS, Enclave, and others. They are built like settlement objects.

That being said, I'd be happy with a "fix" for the Feed the Troops quest to simply disable the change-of-control at the end of it.

Just don't ask the guy about extra work and problem solved. Would be nice to see secondary settlement locations that only a certain faction would take over like some pre war location is always taken over by the BoS like that checkpoint with the annoying speaker droning on forever. The BoS take over and turn that s#*! off finally then... blast their propaganda from said speaker instead. By default the railroad only get one settlement and it is quest related which makes sense. Minutemen run almost everything since they are about getting people to eventually defend themselves but yeah BoS needs some locations to take over and harden into a military outpost instead of just holding the airport. I guess they don't do that because there are only so many of them and they don't spread their numbers thin. In the past fallout games I think BoS always holed up in one place right?

I would download a mod like that - one that added a few more 'distribution centers' (safehouses) to the Railroad, and a few more military installations for the BoS. The institute is tricky, because they are supposed to be covert (even more so than the RR). They already have that mayorial bunker, so that could be one. Maybe that Subway station Glory goes with you to? There are always two synths hangin' around outside of that anyway. And then there is Arcjet - perhaps the synths could move back in after you and Danse are done? Still, all the synth locales would have to be interior cells, I would imagine. Actually, Fort Hagen is another like that - you'd think the BoS would want that (heck, the first time you see them is from the roof of the place), but the institute had control over it. That could be something - the RR settlements would be fairly uncontested, out-of-the-way places (which suits their purposes), but the BoS and Inst. should have common targets - ones you could take for one side or the other (it could be set up like how it is in Nuka World - once one faction has too many you have to take sides).

Hell, even the CoA control more settlements than the RR, BoS, or Inst. individually!
