Smartphone Pip-Boy

Hey guys, wouldn't it be nice to have a smart phone for a pip-boy, and also have it so it doesn't pause the game? It'd be pretty kool, also, it would go nicely with the survival mode of the game, make it more realistic. And of course, for the people who still want the game to be paused, have it as an optional file.

Aye, it would be nice so armor would cover your left arm.

And a mod that makes it so the Pip-Boy doesn't pause the game would be awesome, having it affect lockpicking and hacking would be nice too. Those moments would be so much more intense not knowing if someone would come around the corner and see you.

In addition it would be a nice roleplay thing to be able to play the holotape games to pass the time.

Regarding the no stopping time thing:This was already asked for FO3,NV and Skyrim, and it wasn't possible there due to engine limitations, and I don't think FO4 will be any different.Closest thing would be having time jumps depending on how long you have been in a menu.

But a smartphone? That's raping the lore on all levels.Transistors don't exist in the fallout universe, which make computers as we know them actually work. That's the reason every computer you see is completely text based.Smartphones would look really out of place as well in a retrofuturistic setting as well.

Handheld Pip-Boys do exist though. You used one of those in Fallout 1 and 2.I could see problems with the animations your character does when you switch something.Worst case scenario with that is that you wouldn't have a pipboy unless you press the button to bring it up.Then a sleeker Pip-Boy would spawn on your left arm and you'd still do the normal animations you'd do with the vanilla pip-boy.

NV had a lore-friendly handheld pip-boy mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/38844/?

Yes animation is an issue but .. there are people that can make their own animations as I'm sure you've seen in several mods before.

I was actually thinking of a Pipboy that would like a PSP because you can play games, listen to audio, and if done right should be able to work with existing animations. Or just have new ones made.

All in all thought I really like how FO4 made the pipboy somewhat useful and interactive

Oh just thought of this.

If going for the smart phone method. If you recall how during the escape of the starting vault. The animation of a cable being pulled from the pipboy and plugged into the console. Perhaps with the animations on that one. The wire can simply be deleted, so the plug part is still visible and used. The player can assume that it's a wireless connection.

I have a Smartphone Pip Boy for my Fallout 3. There is a mod for it. I don't know why someone hasn't done that for Fallout 4 yet. Things are a bit slow now for Fallout 4. The speed of mods released was plummeted higher than any game I've seen and now it's just kind of stagnant again, at least compared to it's initial rise. However, I'm sure someone will do the phone Pipboy thing.

I hear you but I think a lot of tools out there just aren't here yet for Fallout 4 because a particular company got more concerned with making a live action movie.

BUT the good thing about mod developers is that they can make their own tools and then use those tools to make really awesome things.
