Hello dear potential helper. I've had this annoying issue where I downloaded mods perfectly like I was told and for some reason the game doesn't load them. The DLC loads, but the mods don't, even though they are 'recognised' by FOMM,NMM and the FNV launcher itself. I've installed NVSE, used FOMM and NMM, launched the game with the launcher the first time and even started a new game before modding, I haven't changed anything in the ini file, I've used FOMM to invalidate the archive, I've tried manually installing the mods and I've even reinstalled the game, steam, FOMM and NMM multiple times even going as far as to try other install directories. It just doesn't want to work. The other thing is that some years ago I played the game with all the mods I'm using now, but for some reason it doesn't want to work now. I might've had the same issue back then (not sure anymore) and somehow fixed it, but I don't remember how... Please help me.

From the screenshot I see you have the NMM "Mods" folder on "F:". But NMM allows/suggests you to put the mods in a different location from the game, and the "virtual install" folder in yet another. Where do you have Steam/FNV itself installed? If it's in the Steam default location (C:\Program Files\<etc>"), read the "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" article in my signature and move it. (The article has a link to the official Steam guide for moving it's location.)

Gopher has an excellent series on NMM which starts with setting it up correctly beginning

. Perhaps there is something you overlooked or that changed since you last played? There are subtleties, such as particular folders needing to be on the same drive.

You may not be aware that mod managers often cannot recognize mods installed by other mod managers (especially when they use "virtual installation" folders). While it isn't always 100% possible, it's best to try to stick with just one.

Finally, if NMM and FOMM are not working for you, try either Mod Organizer (which can integrate both the others) or Wrye Flash. With WF (my personal preference), I recommend using the "Wrye Bash Pictorial Guide" to get started.

Thank you for the reply dubious. I've already tried multiple times to make it work. I've tried installing them on separate drives and seeing as that didn't work I tried doing it all on the same one. I'll try mod organizer and hope that it can help me.

My dear god... like... I'm honestly tearing up a bit. It worked! I seriously love you! You don't know how much I appreciate your help. Thanks for the help ^^. I will now retreat back into my veil of modded goodness and waste the rest of my life. I'm going to have exams soon... who cares!

Please note the date of the previous post, and see the Nexus "Terms of Service" about not resurrecting old threads. The primary reason is that the original thread participants are seldom still around, and it is unlikely that you have exactly the same setup. Details matter.

Start with the tutorials for your mod manager of choice in the 'Mod Managers' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article.

If that isn't enough, please start your own thread and provide ALL the information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. Let us know what you tried as well.

I'm having a very similar problem. I am only using NMM to install my mods, and after hours of resorting files so they would show up in my manager they still do not work in game. I do not know if just NMM is enough for these mods, but I successfully installed the script extender and I can enable/disable the mods in my manager at my leisure with no effect on the still vanilla New Vegas.
