Strong Steel Edge Alignment Advice needed.

Something that's always bothered me with the way Geralt holds a Steel Sword in Strong Style is how the blade isn't aligned straight above his head.

1. How it looks in game: https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/150/images/719-4-1454483852.jpg

2. How it should look: http://www.krifon.de/konline/fechtbuch/fechten-hutvomtag-mair_xl.jpg

Note how the Crossguard should be held vertically at 90 degrees as it is in Image 2, rather than at 45 degrees in Image 1 and in game. I have no idea why the devs didn't fix this, because you'd be pretty unlikely to cut anything if you swung a sword that way, more likely it would just glance off.

The question is: Is there any way to easily correct this? I'd assume all that you would need to do is rotate how the sword models sit in the hands slightly but honestly, I'm as green as they come when it comes to modding The Witcher, though I do have experience modding other games like KotOR. What tools would I need, where would the relevant files be located, are there any tutorials anywhere?

Any advice or help would be appreciated.

So after over a week of searching many different forums for answers, I've altogether abandoned the idea of tweaking a model (With these shoddy tools? What a laugh.) opting to try to learn just the basics instead. I decided to try to substitute one default sword appearance for another. The devs originally made the Temerian Steel Sword look identical to The Witcher's Steel Sword and I don't particularly care for that. Would be nice if it used one of the other default models in the game, particularly whatever model 13 is using in this pic, since as far as I know, it isn't being used by any other weapon in the game anyway. http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/15/14306/12334444444.1.jpg. (BTW, merely finding a picture displaying all the sword models in this game is next to impossible. One of the many testaments to how bad the official wiki is.)

One would assume it would be as simple as finding wherever the hell the weapon files are stored, viewing each of them until you locate the right files for the two swords and then just renaming those files so the Temerian Steel Sword's ".uti" paths to those instead of the default. Drop them in override and bobs your uncle. From what I've come to understand from looking at a few other weapon mods and then viewing the textures myself in Gimp is that there seem to be four files tied to each sword, not including the ".uti". These are three ".dds" files for the icon, texture and lightmap (maybe?) and one ".mdl" file for the model.

The problem is I cannot for the life of me find where these damned files are stored in the data folder. The closest I've come is opening up a ".bif" with an entirely separate program (since Djinni can't even do something that simple) and finding *some* of the weapon files. None of which I actually was looking for. Am I missing something? Shouldn't all the weapons *logically* be stored in one location? If anyone knows please do tell me, I want to do this... At the very least.

I'm aware I probably won't get any feedback or help on this since this scene is basically dead, but I must say having easily modded other similarly structured games (KotOR, TSL) modding The Witcher is without a doubt, just the worst. No tutorials to be found on even the most basic tasks. Woefully lacking toolset. A thoroughly useless Wiki with every other link listed being dead. It's just a terrible, terrible shame that modding in this terrific game is such an exercise in futility. To anyone jumping into this in 2016, godspeed. I hope at least some of this info will be useful to someone more talented/patient/unemployed than I. /endrant.
