MOD REQUEST: Shipping Containers as settlement building material.

Okay, Fallout 4 has some really great items already in place to build a settlement, From junk walls, to concrete fences to metal bunkers. I would like to recreate something a bit more close to the real world (in at least one of my settlements). Back in 2014 a show debuted on television called 'Doomsday Preppers" and it showcased dozens of individuals that were making plans on how to survive an oncoming apocalypse or meltdown of civilisation. On several of the shows people were shown using cargo shipping containers to create bunkers below ground and using the same kind of containers to also build well, compounds, almost fortresses above ground.

We have shipping containers already in FO4, but there is just a little something missing. The containers need some doorways cut out and / or one end with doors able to be opened. Then it would be possible to connect the containers together to make living space inside them when they are connected.

Maybe this idea will interest some talented modder and they can come up with some shipping containers that can snap together and have doorways or an open side option so that containers can be strung together to make a wall, or a castle, or anything in between. :)

I know someone is making snappable ones, but unopened. I know for sure I'm making one with a doorway for my mod.. but not as a solo mod/plugin.

Hey, thanks for the info burst. Thats a good step forward to what I was looking/hoping to see. It just makes sense, with all the Atomic Bomb paranoia in the 50's era type culture.

I already had a lot of fun when they added vehicles (busses) to the craft build menu, and I used several on the Finch farm area settlement since they talk so much about what a junkyard it is/was. But I still hoped to be able to make a Fortress out of shipping containers on one of my Conquest settlements thats near a port area :)

Homemaker mod has already the containers included, also open containers (on one side) with the ability to build other items inside.

Maybe this mod is also helpful for you http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14603/?

I kinda like the looks of that but was thinking more of using the Shipping containers as walls...but with interior spaces that can be connected to get the appearance of a massive building. lol Like stacking Lego Blocks, but with interior doors or just with some having part of the side panels open. Much like the "capsule" buildings have some full side walls...some with doorways....or can just be left with no side walls at all.

Might even try to make a shipping container skyscraper like the real one that is being built in Mumbai :)

Ok, understood.

The containers are already stackable (but they are not snapping). You can build a wall or a massive Building with them, if you leave some space to walk between.

So you need a modder who is able to open the other side of the already open container and maybe add some window holes.

The mesh is called ShippingCrate02.nif, if i were able to use blender and nifscope already, i could do that

I tried. The mesh is somehow bad, crashes max a lot, and I got tired of it not working. Gonna have to wait until I can make one from scratch.
