Long War XCOM mod for MacOS, Question about Arc Throwers as Pistols

Hi everyone,

 

I recently downloaded the Long War mod for XCOM MacOS Steam version and boy is it fun.

 

I just wanted to know if anyone could help with this question.

 

I saw a You Tube video that said you can modify one of the configuration files to make it possible to put an ARC thrower in the pistol slot. But those directions were for PC.

Is there any way to do this for Mac, and if so, could someone provide me with step-by-step directions to do it?
