wolvyreen
Hi, I have a 4K monitor and prefer to play at full resolution but I need to weed out a performance issue and I have changed my skyrimprefs.ini file to have the following: iSize H=1080iSize W=1920 I changed the \Documents\My Games\Skyrim\skyrimprefs.ini as well as the mod organizer file to reflect the same. But I don't see any noticeable difference in performance improvement nor graphic quality degradation. I suspect it is still loading the game at FULL 4k res but cant be sure. is there a console command to check the res in game? ThanksWolvy
Darkstyler35
Hello you, You have two SkyrimPrefs.ini : - First located at : C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\Skyrim- Second located at : C:\Users\MyCatInTheFridge\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Try to make the changes to both files. wolvyreen
Thanks for trying to help but i did already say the following: I changed the \Documents\My Games\Skyrim\skyrimprefs.ini as well as the mod organizer file to reflect the same. I dont think the prefs file in C:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Skyrim is being used because the setting in there is iSize H=900iSize W=1600
Darkstyler35
In skyrim launcher what is your aspect ratio ? 1920x1080 try 16:9.
wolvyreen
If I change that to 3840 X 2160 the performance is the same so I have NO clue what res the game is loading.
Darkstyler35
And what if you reset the skyrim pref to default, then use the settings above, start the game and once in game alt + tab to see if the game wrote a resolution in the files ?
wolvyreen
So I renamed all the pref files i could fine to see which one it was using. it is using the MO files in the profiles\Default directory. So even changing the res in there, the performance is not affected AT ALL when lowering or increasing the resolution. this is truly weird!

Reynard131
Thanks, I hope someone else can assist. You need to get global setting that match the 2160 P in your Nvidia control panel within Windows Control Panel. It best to set your power to maximize the power to the GPU and to use single monitor compatibility mode in order to assure that you don't have performance issues with the driver itself. If you are running to two monitors then obviously you would leave it in a multi-monitor set up You'll need to test different configurations to see which works best for you as far as your initialization settings within the game in order to get the best performance at 2160 P.
