VERY low sound.

Hey what's up everyone.

 

So, I had skyrim preloaded as I pre purchased it via Steam..

 

I've had no problems, besides one very big problem. The audio is so low it makes the game nearly unplayable. ( I mean, it is TECHNICALLY playable, but who enjoys playing a game with sound so low you can't hear anything) Even with my speakers or headphones turned ALL the way up, I can barely hear anything.

 

I see one other thread where a user has the same issue plus some others, but for me, it's just the low volume issue.. Sadly for me, it seems much lower than other people are complaining of.

 

 

Hoping someone came up with a temporary fix for this. Any ideas are much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not quite sure what my sound card is, but under system info REALTEK High definition audio and Nvidia High definition audio were both listed. I believe REALTEK is my primary.

Exactly the same problem here. My default volume setting which is good for every other game/application is way too low in Skyrim.

 

Have set the sound settings to 24 bit / 48000 Hz as described in a fix for a similar sound issue - doesn't work.

 

Hope someone has ideas.

I have the same problem.

I've had similar problems with other games before, so I just did my regular quick workaround which helps a lot:

 

1. Go to 'Playback devices' in Windows. (right-click the Volume icon next to Window's clock.)

2. Select your default audio device and click the 'Properties' button.

3. Go into the 'Enhancements' tab and check "Loudness Equalization".

4. Press 'OK' and 'OK'.

 

So basically this "enhancement" makes so that Windows automatically boost low volume sounds and lower loud sounds.

Likewise, Sound is very low regardless of sound enhancement settings in Windows.

(seems like sound is playing as a background sound expecting foreground sound since there is no bass or any enhancement on the sound)

 

VIA High Definition Audio (onboard) using Stereo Headphones.

Directx is up to date

Windows Update shows no important updates needed

Audio Device driver update scan shows as up to date

worked for me too

 

i have a realtek with stereo speakers

Sound levels all sound much lower to me than in Oblivion or Fallout.

Try going into the ini and looking for the value that's something like "volume" or "volume level". Then changing the number from 1.0 to 3.0 or whatever you prefer.
