I am not an expert at modding. Only been modding Skyrim for just over a year and got the jist of it. And I could afford to make mistakes and screw up a lot on my crappy laptop.
But I recently got a brand new PC with pretty decent specs. I kinda dont want to crash and fall on this PC and not know what to do... Can someone tell me all the mods that I could run? I have all the info on my profile if you are up for helping me? It would also be handy if you could tell me what to install first and what to overwrite etc. Would be so greatful!:-)

(Even if no one helps I will still obviously do it all myself, I just know that there are more experienced modders out there)

Thanks.

You could run quite high graphical mods, wouldn't try and push it though. Quite a lot of ENB presets etc will have a guide on what version to use dependant on GPU, Processor & RAM. Best way to test is just trial and error :)

Get Mod Organizer if you want your skyrim data folder safe from any overwriting mistakes. The advantage here is that MO uses a different folder far away from your Skyrim folder to run the mods. So if you just want to play vanilla skyrim, just don't use MO.

As for what mods you can run, pretty much all of them.

How is anyone supposed to tell you what you can run when you didnt even list the specs?

New PC with decent specs doesnt tell us anything.

OOPS sorry i see you said its in profile. You can pretty much use whatever mods you want within skyrims engine limitations. Dont go over 2k textures and follow a good guide. Like the one in my sig.

I5 with 970 or equivalent will allow you to comfortably enjoy skyrim modding to the fullest. at 1080p.

He/she can use every 4k texture that is available. And the video card isn't a 970 (that's just the mainboard) but a R9 390.

Guess you missed the part where i said OOPS. Also the 970 or equivalent part.

And 4k textures are OK for indoor locations or smaller items. But still unnecessary.

You cant tell the difference visually but the performance impact is huge.

@ironbender:

I have seen more than once that you keep telling users that 4k textures are unnecessary and I think you should really stop doing so because

1. you actually CAN tell the difference and

2. even for bigger items the difference is noticeable.

Did you ever tried 4k textures for yourself or are you just repeating comments made by other (clueless) users?

And as long as your rig is good enough why should you care about impact?

I have seen you give this crappy advice many times also. Yes. In my rookie days i did use 4k textures.

I happen to have a pretty capable PC. 3570k overclocked and a 970. You can not tell the difference and with skyrims memory limitations there really is just no reason to use 4k.

I keep a nice balance of performance and visuals. Stutter and lag arent acceptable to me. I like my modded skyrim to perform as if it were setup that way by the developers. And mine is pretty darn close. minimal crashes and excellent performance while looking great.

I have over 200 mods and a large portion of them are textures. Plus ENB + DynDOLOD and performance wise its almost as good as the vanilla game minus the occasional stutter and i do mean occasional. 4k causes things to be much less smooth outdoors.

I have every single texture in the game optimized. Not because i have a weak system but because i want to get the most out of everything while maintaining the fine balance between performance and visuals.

I also dont pull these things out of my ass. I learned all of what i preach and know from people much smarter than myself. As well as modding and playing this game myself for the last 3 or so years off and on.

and i am definitely not clueless.
