CTD when trying to load a save in game

So I have been having issues the last day or two where if I try to load a save in game I will get a CTD about a second into the loading screen. This also happens if I die and it tries to load the last save. I've updated my mods and used LOOT which said everything was ok. It's just started happening recently like I said and it seems to only happen on one of my characters. I have the papyrus logs here as well. I tried to stop what was causing the crash but can't seem to pin it down. Any help would be greatly appreciated :smile:

I also have this occasionally. What I do is load whatever earlier save (which works, contrary to loading the latest save or just hitting "continue") and once that save is loaded I load the latest save from within the game...

The issue I'm having is a little different tho. What's happening is I can press "Continue" and it will load into the game perfectly fine. But if I try and load from in the game, or if I die and it loads a save before I died, that's when I get the CTD.

Just curious? Will it allow you to start a new game? Or does it CTD as well?

Just tested it now, I can start a new game just fine. T-T I don't know what's going on here.

I have close or over 3000 hours in FallOut 4 and have long since stopped asking why certain things happen as a lot of occurences are totally random and some get corrected even when doing nothing at all or a malfunctioning mod starts behaving normally after simply deleting and re-installing. Right now, for instance, I cannot get into the primary interiors of the Poseidon Energy Plant: game CTDs on me everytime I pick one of the two main entrance locks or open the interior door after having gotten into the secondary interior through the sewage pipes at the back of the plant...never had that before, not with Poseidon, not with any other interior...

 

I had two settlement mods not working properly (everything worked bar the radio beacon which didn't attract settlers and the settlements' happiness being stuck at zero); first one started working after de- and reactivating twice, the second one needed three re-installs. All from the same, non-updated downloaded files and without changing load order... beats me...

I know there are things that are unexplainable in these games someitmes haha. It's the nature of such things. But I am still determined to try and fix it. For now I will play on a different character and see how things go and if that one gets fixed sometime.

Well CTDs do suck. It's becoming and has been a way of life with not only FO4 but the other FO games as well. But with the other FO games CTD issues seemed to get fixed for the most over time. Whenever I encounter one that repeats itself I will try going around it and maybe come at it from a different direction. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Or I'll leave the area all together and try returning later. Again sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. If I encounter a CTD when trying to open or unlock a door I'll sometimes try to tcl my way thru the door. Again sometimes this works... Well you know the rest. And finally I just give up all together and assume there must be possible corruption with my current saves meaning going back to a save where I don't see the problem or even saying screw it and start a new game play thru.. So there really is a major issue with the game that's for sure and I'm amazed when people will post saying that they never have any CTDs or crashes or problems whatsoever after hundreds of hours of game play. Guess they must have the perfect combination of hardware and mods. :confused:

Both doors I mentioned with regard to the Poseidon Energy Plant acces an interior cell, so there's nothing behind the door when setting clipping to "off"... same for the interior door that gives way to the second interior of the plant as that's yet another separate cell...

 

I've never crashed unlocking a door that accesses just another room in the same cell. Keeping an eye on my V-RAM behaviour, I guess that for some reason Bethesda made it such that everything loadable needs to be loaded, even stuff that isn't needed, when starting/continuing the game or loading a save or even transgressing from one cell to the other like when fast travelling. That explains why my V-RAM use goes way up and then goes down by half just before the loading finishes and stays at that lower amount when actually continuing gameplay...

So just an update on the situation. I can load a save that's about 4 or so hours back and it load perfect in game or out. But if I save, and then try and load that save, boom, crash again. So there's something broken somewhere with my mods I believe. Which sucks because there is no save script cleaner for FO4 yet. So I'm gonna have to figure out how to clean this save up. Sad face.
