Realistic Needs And Diseases doesn't work

Hello guys,

I'm new to modding and I'm trying to get Realistic Needs and Diseases to work.

I uninstalled Skyrim and made sure there were no remaining files in my Skyrim folder before reinstalling it again.

I've installed Mod Organizer v1.3.11 as well as LOOT v0.9.1.

Then I looked at this video to see how to install SKSE.

Then I downloaded the 'Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch', 'SkyUI' and 'Realistic Needs and Diseases'.

LOOT ordered them for me, and I ran SKSE from MO.

Once in the game, I opened the console to type `GetSKSEVersion`. This gave me the version 1.07. Looks good.

Then I opened the MCM. The Realistic Needs And Diseases confuguration is there. I opted to die after 48 hours of dehydration.

Finally I wait for 2 days. But nothing happens. I don't die of dehydration. I'm not hungry or thirsty.

Here's the list in LOOT:

  • Skyrim.esm
  • Update.esm
  • Dawnguard.esm
  • HearthFires.esm
  • Dragonborn.esm
  • Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esm
  • HighResTexturePack01.esp
  • HighResTexturePack02.esp
  • HighResTexturePack03.esp
  • SkyUI.esp
  • RealisticNeedsandDiseases.esp
  • RND_Dawnguard-Patch.esp
  • RND_Dragonborn-Patch.esp
  • RND_Hearthfires-Patch.esp

I must add that all of the .esm files, except for Skyrim.esm, show warnings and tell me to "Clean with TES5Edit".

I'm not sure if that's related to the problem.

Maybe using this version instead will help?

Realistic Needs and Diseases All-In-One for USLEEP:

If that doesn't fix it, I do recommend getting iNeed by isoku instead. RND is an abandoned mod, and the Mod Author has even suggested iNeed as an alternative to their mod. Just make sure to follow the correct uninstallation process if you do go that route.

What do you mean with correct uninstallation process?

Is there more to it than right-clicking the mod in MO and choose "Remove"?

I've tried both mods you suggested. Neither of them do anything.

RND looks good. It's MCM works fine. I'm getting different kinds of foods. But I'm not getting hungry or thirsty after waiting 24 hours.

iNeed's MCM worked the first time, until I went to the Advanced tab. After that once I go to iNeed's MCM, the UI freezes. This persists even after I restart the game.

I can still play the game, though. But no hunger or thirst.

Did you remember to activate RND before everything? It needs to be activated through MCM menu, then quit MCM and reopen it for customizations.

There is an uninstalliation protocol that needs to be activated inside the MCM to properly uninstall RND. I believe the FAQ in the comment section of the mod mentions it, either that or it's in the description. Can't recall which. Either way, you really need to read the full instructions when you use mods. Quite a few mods require you to follow certain procedures to uninstall a mod to prevent scripts from destroying your save game.

As for neither mod working, that is because you are doing something wrong. Both mods are perfectly fine. Many us RND, so it clearly works. I have used iNeed on a couple of occasions and have never had problems getting its systems to function properly. What are your specs? You don't really seem to have that many mods at all - but if you're using a really slow system that might be why the scripts are causing you to freeze in the MCM. Can't really think of any other reasons why that would happen. That or maybe save bloat or something like that from pass mod uninstallations you've likely done is taking a toll now.

I've been able to customize it from the start to set tick "Die of thirst" to see if I would die (which I don't). I don't remember any option to activate it.

As for your concern that my saves may be bloated: I started a new character.

In fact, I'm going to make a new one again, just to be sure. (I did switch between iNeed and RND after all)

And yes, the mods don't seem to be the problem. SKSE maybe? Does it matter at all where I install Skyrim? (It's on my E: drive)

Should I put MO inside the E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim directory? (which I did)

UPDATE: the new character didn't get hungry either.

To start the mod in game, open MCM menu, click "Start RN&D", then exit the menu. You will receive needs effects (in active effects menu) and two powers, “Check Needs” and “Drink from Stream”, the first time you start the mod.

To uninstall, you must stop the mod, open MCM menu, click "Stop RN&D", and make sure all needs and diseases effects are gone, before removing the files.

From RND page

So before doing any customization, you do need to activate it at first. If you don't activate it before, the mod won't work.
