Gabby2805
I have a GTX 1080 and pretty much the only thing I have installed to test is Real Vision ENB for Climates of Tamriel V. I have a 4K monitor but I set my resolution to 1080p in the launcher and it said that in my ini too. I was horrified to find that I was only getting 30fps! I had seen and heard that even an ultra modded Skyrim can get 60fps with a GTX 1080 in 1080p.I turns out, it is running in 4K and I don't know how to stop it! I tested this by setting my ini to 1080p windowed, but it still launched in fullscreen. Is there some SKSE or ENB settings to control the resolution? I really need to change it to 1080p to get better fps. Please help!
repusDude
See if you can change resolution in skyrim launcher. Click on option. That should change the resolution.
Gabby2805
See if you can change resolution in skyrim launcher. Click on option. That should change the resolution.I did say that I had already set the resolution in the launcher but thanks for responding anyway. Turns out the issue was that I had the OneTweak mod installed which forces fullscreen borderless window mode, so it was locking it in 4k haha, but now I have removed that, I can change my resolution. :)
mrsuicideshe
do you really need 4k, 1920x1080 is good enough for me. ;p
Gabby2805
do you really need 4k, 1920x1080 is good enough for me. ;p No..that's why my post was asking how I can change from 4k to 1080p. 4K is much nicer, its crisp and stunning but isnt worth the FPS drop. I'm doing quite well on my Instagram account for screenshots @BellaDovah so I will use 4k for screenshots and 1080p for 60fps gameplay.
Alventiothy
Can I ask what monitor you are using to play 4k/1080p as I have a 4k monitor and gtx 1080 and when i play at 1080p the scaling on it makes 1080p look hideous in comparison to an ordinary 1080 monitor. Gabby2805
Can I ask what monitor you are using to play 4k/1080p as I have a 4k monitor and gtx 1080 and when i play at 1080p the scaling on it makes 1080p look hideous in comparison to an ordinary 1080 monitor. Ah that's a shame! Although it is true that there is a decrease in quality in terms of a slight blurriness when playing 1080p on a 4k monitor compared to a native 1080p resolution, I think mine looks fine in 1080p! I use the Acer Predator XB281HK 28" 4K monitor and I have to say I am extremely impressed and happy with it - its superb quality and even though its a TN panel, it has IPS technology so there are no funny coloring issues! If I could have stretched to another £100 I would have gone for the XB271HK which is an IPS panel. There is definitely a slight blurred effect when playing in 1080p compared to 4k but its still more than enough beauty than I need for my gameplay! I also have a GTX 1080 and I've installed a demanding ENB and all the 4k parallax textures I could find so if you do the same then you'll probably stop noticing the slight blur. I can get 60fps when I play in 1080p so the smooth frames are more than worth that slight blur. I get 20fps with all my mods in 4k so I only use that for taking screenshots. I've never actually tried 1440p because I've never felt the need to but if 1080p is simply unbearable for you then 1440p might be your happy medium.
