bobofudd
People think it's a bad game because of many quite valid reasons. People like the game for quite valid reasons. On comparison to previous games FO4 is not a good fallout game. FO4 isn't perfect and neither is any other game ever made. Someone will always be able to find something that could have been done better. I certainly have my issues with the game but it hasn't stopped me from playing either. It comes down to whether or not you got your money's worth out of the time spent in the game. It's that simple. The only way you should be comparing the game to another directly is if it is a sequel or prequel to said game. FO4 is its own game. I feel the need to point out to those who might not be aware but every single person who has bought this game and played it is a Beth supporter whether you care to admit it or not. Because at some point your interest in the game made you purchase it and play it. There are many who regret purchasing it, and that's fine, but that's the gamble you take with every single game you buy. Beth games are no different. But why would you come to these forums and spend all of your time trying to degrade Bethesda and everything they've done? It makes you a hypocrite. If you truly felt that way you wouldn't be on these forums, or creating things with their creation kit, or even playing the game or talking about the next one. If you truly wanted to send the message to Bethesda they suck you would completely ignore everything they do. That means no posting about them, no watching trailers, and no playing or owning any of their games. They are only going to react if their sales numbers start slipping and I don't see that happening anytime soon as long they are getting all of this attention, whether it's good or bad. I find it funny how I can get 10x more hours out of a lousy Beth game than a great game from any other developer. They must be doing something right because they managed to get my money as well as your money. And to those people who are labeling people as Beth supporters or "fanboys", I hate to break the news to you but you just labeled yourself a hypocrite. RattleAndGrind
OP, you are not alone. I too reach a point in every game where the game ceases to hold my attention. That point has nothing to do with the title of the game, or the maker of the game, or the genre of the game, or the number of games I have already played, of the quality of the game, or how much I paid for the game, or the franchise the game is part of, or what some ignorant <expletive deleted> thinks of the game, or what some lowlife <expletive deleted> thinks of me because I play the game, or what some other flaming <expletive deleted> thinks of me because I criticize the game. It has everything to do with my level of enjoyment. At some point, every game stops being fun. And at that point, I quit playing. zanity
Riiiggghhhttt! You like the mods, but don't wanna play the vanilla game over to reach a good leveled character again? Why not take your already leveled character to the New-U station, get a face-lift, and continue playing for the mods alone? If the vanilla game stinks (and boy does it), obviously playing the quests all over again would be torture. So don't. Some mods allow different starts if you insist on breaking in a new character. Some mods try to bypass vanilla quests. Some mods will allow you to level faster. No mod can make the vanilla gameplay/quests feel 'fresh' again. Second time around you need to use YOUR OWN imagination, and use various mods to aid in this. Try a vegetation overhaul to change the aesthetics of the world. The mods from 3DNPC.com are as good as it gets for adding new life to this world (and Skyrim). Sadly there are no current mods adding interesting new 'explore' content to interiors/dungeons - treasure hunts, new traps, new puzzles, new collectibles (OK there are some of these), new stories for the various interiors would make a massive improvement. However, the bottom line is that FO4 is NOT the living breathing world that is Skyrim. Once the quests run out, and you've seen everywhere once, there is no conceptual reason to enjoy the world of Fallout 4. And the 'overhaul' mods you fantasise about just ain't gonna happen. That's like thinking peeps working for free in their spare time could do better than a pro-Beth team working for years in crafting the whole of Fallout 4. I can recognise Fox did a lousy job on this summers Independence Day 2 movie, but that hardly implies I can put together a bunch of amateurs working for free to do better. AceGoober
2,202 hours and I'm still playing FO4. While I really like the default game, mods enhance FO4 greatly. For me it is texture mods. I like a lot of eye candy at 4k or higher. Additionally, character edits make companions and NPCs feel more alive. But, alas, I pushed things too far and the game is barely alive. I guess FO4 didn't like 407 mods with 322 active plugins because part of downtown Boston is torqued and I get serious lag near Greentech. Time to wipe and reinstall from the ground-up. No hair off my back as I love FO4 and don't mind going through the reinstall process.

There have been several threads on combining mods and your method may prove beneficial.

Although it wont help much with your mods, maybe it could help.
D4nks
I'm feeling pretty similar to the OP. Played and loved FO4 since it came out, but the replay value for me isn't what it is for previous titles. I always (and still do) have games of FO3 and NV going even though I've seen just about everything in those games. I'm trying to figure out why FO4 isn't the same for me. I don't think it comes down to one single mechanic, I really don't know yet what my issue is (not helpful, I know). Haven't played the Vault DLC and not really looking forward to Nuka World, I'm having more fun learning how to mod.
zc123
More or less the same for me. Loved the previous titles, especially the originals and NV. I have gone through the story in 4 a couple times and just don't feel the desire to play it again. I chalk it up to them putting so much time into the settlement building at the cost of story & side quests. Don't get me wrong settlement building can be good & fun but it definitely cut into the story and site quests which drew allot of us into the game to begin with. The severe lessening of the dark humor also played a part in me losing interest.
garompaestomper
Well, yesterday I stumbled upon the No Mutants Allowed community. Had never entered the forum before. Found out I'm not the only one hating bethesda since fallout 3. I could be writing about it all day. Because I'm mad at the world, seeing that not only fallout has fallen into the "money leeching" industry of nowadays. So i'm gonna say it in just a couple of words: Fallout, Fallout 2. That's where the franchise ends. Maybe if you want you can add a 50% New Vegas (great writers and story, poor graphics and hideous animations/voices/UI and lore breaking stuff from F3). So, basically, Bethesda makes s#*! games. "Oh but new vegas was cool!" yeah, because just THAT one was made by Obsidian games and not Bethesda... but they kept the broken stuff from Fallout 3. Quoting some guy on the forums:"What do you have against Bethesda?" "Lies. Lies. Hype. Bullshit. More lies. Ego-polishing. Ignorance in spades. Lies that result from ego-polishing. Willful ignorance and delusional cherry-picking from original design docs, misquoted to give Bethesda their "mandate of heaven" approval of how they are skullf*#@ing the series, despite direct quotes of the original developers themselves proving Bethesda is in fact, lying and misrepresenting the design docs and original designs of the original developers. You know, the people Bethesda didn't feel the need to contact in any form regarding this license. Ever." Now I'm gonna say something for you to remember me. And heed my words children:Fallout will never exist again unless Bethesda loses the rights to the franchise. All you gonna get in the meantime is moneygrabber crap that the only thing about fallout it has...is the f'ng title.
