Skyrim Helgen Intro: Wagon Not Moving

Hi all!

I've been attemping to start a new game for the past several hours, but I can't get past the intro wagon ride to Helgen. The wagon rocks and sways like it's moving, and the NPC prisoners sitting in the cart with me are talking normally, but the wagons and horses are not moving down the road to Helgen. I have currently done the following:

- Disabled "Helgen Reborn" mod

- Ran "GenerateFNISforUsers.exe"

- Disabled "Immersive Armors" mod

None of these solved the issue. Would anyone happen to have encountered a similar issue and/or have a solution?

Thanks in advance!

helgan reborn should not be activated until after helgan. You most likely have a mod that is making the opening of the game not work right. deactivate all esp's until after you get into helgan keep.but do not activate helgan reborn until after you get out of helgan keep. Helgan is the most sensitive area in the game and is very script heavy.

Hello,

Not sure it's the same problem you have as the usual mad carriage some have experienced here.

Just in case it would help, here are some tips :

The Helgen sequence is heavily scripted, so as your game engine is quite busy, it could simply be the fact you have too much scripts running at the same time, at the beginning of the game, creating a latency that prevents the scripts in queue from working in due time.

/// 1 - You may use A workaround here. This is a simple mesh replacer that will prevent the carriage from going mad.

/// 2 - Untick from launcher / mod manager all your heavy mods BEFORE starting a new game, especially those using scripting. Keep those you use to create your character. Make a save and once the Helgen sequence is done and you're out, reactivate/install your mods.

/// 3 - You can instal LAL to avoid the vanilla start.

/// 4 - If unfortunately above things don't work, there are other leads in this topic...
- Make sure you have vsync turned on.
- Make sure your framerate isn't going above 60 - use a fps limiter or the ENB limiter included feature or using your graphic card utility if you experience problems with the ENB limiter.

/// 5 - Some of the skyrim.ini [papyrus] settings can have very bad effects on the way the game handle scripts, Read here why.

Good luck.

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for your quick replies. Unfortunately even with Helgen Reborn deactivated, deactivating all my mod plugins via NMM, I'm still stuck. It's not the typical glitch where the cart flies off into the mountains and spirals like crazy, instead it's a glitch where the wagon has the correct motions like it's moving, but it's not moving down the road at all. The wagon is just swaying/rocking/moving in place. The NPCs are talking normally. The only issue is that the wagon just won't move down the road unfortunately. :(

Thanks for suggesting Alternate Start, I wanted to avoid using it only because of how script-heavy it is and possibly conflicting with my other mods but I will certainly keep it as an option if all else fails.

Did you ever get any satisfying fix for this? I'm having the same issue with a totally fresh install (no mods, tested both with and without DLCs) and I would like to avoid LAL. If you found a way around this, please share.

Running the game without Mod Manager fixed the issue for me.

Edit : I found the actual fix, you need to run FNIS and click "de-install creature pack", my problem was I removed FNIS Creature Pack without de-installing it on the FNIS.exe

Perhaps, if one runs Skyrim on PC from STEAM, find and follow the instructions for logging onto and then having STEAM revalidate your Skyrim local files. (Sorry, no link here, but they will pop up on a search-engine on the first page.)

Next, after revalidating SR local files, we suggest starting a new Skyrim game from the STEAM window and see if the wagons-glitch has stopped. If they have, you can proceed with gameplay until when you get control of your character, and then make a save, and move to play offline, if you do it that way.

This worked for us four weeks ago, after we got this notorious glitch, and we were running about 30 mods, including the four in your list. We revalidated our local SR files at STEAM, started a new game while logged in, and then saved after gaining control of our characters.

We think this glitch somehow restarts when the STEAM update timer underneath Windows 10 keeps demanding PC resources while playing SR, though We've seen little investigation on this possibility.
