Skip Intro Flight?

Hi all,

after searching the forums it seems to be just me: I can't figure out how to skip the intro flight and have to endure it everytime for 2 1/2 min until it ends by loading my last savegame.

I'm playing the PC / GOG version and I'm almost sure to have tested every possible keyboard-mouseclick-combination, but to no avail.

How do you do this?

Precisely, it is not... It never took anywhere near two minutes for me to initialize! Depends on your machine.

Let me guess... Your warps to new systems or through black holes, also take you a long time?

The initial flight and the warp-tunnel are the "hidden" loading screens of this game. They are more fancy than your usual spinning circle... but if you think about it, it is the same: A looping animation you look at, while the game pre-loads the necessary assets. If they had hidden it with a little mini-game, like those that exist for Fallout4 (through mods) they would have nailed it.

Hi Virakotxa, thanks for the clarification.

My pc isn't that outdated (asus h81-gamer, i7, 16 GB RAM) and I have no problems with other games.

Warping times don't feel overly long.

I just checked to see if an internet connection during program start would make a difference - it did: intro flight now lasted for almost 4 minutes.

I'm baffled.

Not a techie, but sounds about what I have... No quantic processor here, either.

Every time you make a change to the PCBANKS folder it usually has to rebuild graphics cache, or check it, and then rebuild it... not sure. Thing is, by manually deleting everything inside your SHADERCACHE folder, when you make a change to your load order, the game loads faster and without "staggering" all the time during the load-flight. If you don't connect it often, there were a couple of those ninja updates that you could be running behind... And last, the game is not pinacle of optimization either, if you are using an Nvidia card, there are a couple of tweaks to the configuration that made a world of difference for me. Google that up... Same might go for ATI.

  • 4 weeks later...

Just to give a feedback:

I think I've tried it all, but to no avail. The only thing that helped a bit was relocating the game from HDD to SSD. It shortened the intro flight from 4'15'' to 3'00''

I think I'll contact Hello Games about this.
