Baking Lessons

It took me an hour and a half to figure out why the water would show up in the toolset but not in game.

Anyhow. I figure this can be my thread where I ask questions about Mod Troubleshooting. Here's the first one......

So, I'm using the RWS Grand Citadel tileset (beautiful tileset btw) and I'm having an issue with one of the meta tiles. When viewed at certain angles in game, the floor of the tile disappears. It doesn't do it in the toolset. I'd like to fix it, but I'm not sure where to start looking for the cause of the problem.

Any Ideas?

Can't tell by the screenshots, but you mentioned water, so is there water covering that floor? If so, there are probably too many lights in the tile, which causes water to turn black at certain angles.

It's a sudden pop out. Here's where I'm at.........

When I use the hak file with a 2da in my override it works fine. When I extract the files from the hak to the campaign folder and use a 2da in my override I have the issue. I guess something must be happening with NWN2 Packer. I guess I could just use the hak, but I'd still like to figure out why it's doing it.

Popping in and out could be an LoD issue, but since LoDs are part of the same model file that displays the main one, the only way I can see it could be that is if there's a different texture file on the LoD that you didn't copy to the campaign folder. But assuming you extracted everything from the hak and there are no necessary parts missing, I can't imagine why it would fix it to have it in a hak. I'm also assuming there are no duplicate files between the campaign folder and the hak. I would consider it a shame if you had to resort to using a hak for those items, since my experience has been nothing but positive in using the campaign folder for everything except certain 2DAs.

You can also cover the tileset's floor with floor placeables. I had to do that with the RWS ship interior tileset, not because of any disappearing floors, but because the way the floor mesh was designed it would not interact with the light and shadow properly. Most tiles don't have that problem.
