Hy! I also had several CTD or continuous freeze in the area near Whiterun especially. My problem was a conflict between re-textures mod for Skyrim 2011 installed on Skyrim SE, eliminating those, CTD has not occured anymore.

I hope I was helpful! Bye! ;D

I'm now having this issue. I've deactivated SMIM, deactivated Blood Textures, and I can't seem to narrow it down. This is a fairly new game (only 16 hours in) and the freeze only happens at semi-random places, but always when a save happens. Regular save or quick save, doesn't matter. Still happens. If anyone can provide any insight, I'd greatly appreciate it!!!  I can't really go back to a previous save because my saves jump from Level 3 to Level 17. There's no in between.

Spoiler

EDIT #1: Ok, so I've also run TES5Edit and LOOT and neither of them seem to find any conflicts.  The freeze only seems to happen after a questline update (the Thieves guild, specifically stage 15 of the "Trinity Restored" quest.) I haven't tried advancing the quest past that to see if it's just that stage or not, but it's something.

EDIT #2: Ok, that seemed to work. I just used ~setstage TG08a 20, then immediately went to setstage TG08a 30, and I was able to save and move on. Weird how it was something about that specific stage number.

I started having freezing issues too lately and so far it seems to be fine after uninstalling SSE Fixes

I never had issues with SSE Fixes all was fine all tho I probably didnt needed as much with only 70.esp mods.

But lately I downloaded lot of mods many of which change game a lot. For example animation changing mods such as 360 Walk and Run Plus AND YY Animations SSE and  Ordinator or Immersive Armors

360 Walk and Run Plus AND YY Animations SSE - changes some animations

Ordinator - changes perk menu completely

Immersive Armors - comes with its own menu for those armors and I remember back in oldrim somebody asked how is that possible and somebody replied that it is hard coding

From what I understand SSE Fixes is fixing issue with game called iteration loops. He explained on his page that (quote):

There is a bug in game code where if you have more than a few dozen ESP or ESM plugins installed the game FPS will become much lower in some areas. The ESP or ESM file content does not matter at all they can be empty dummy plugins with no masters. This happens because there are at least 4 nested iteration loops the game does in every frame and the lowest loop iterates for each plugin installed, normally this wouldn't be an issue but this code runs on multiple threads and for each plugin it locks a mutex every time, this is very slow. It's not even really a bug, just bad implementation.

My question is : Is it possible that some "heavy" mods cant be used without these iteration loops ? That SSE Fixes wasnt meant to be used with such heavy mods ? (sorry if I am asking stupid question I dont know much about these things and only trying to find solution)

EDIT: Nope. Freez again even without SSE Fixes. I really need to reinstall the game its total mess after trying and testing so many different mods :/

I'm having the same problem with SSE freezing randomly.  Right now, it's outside of Whiterun just past the Loreius farm. This is the third game this has happened to me. Everything is going fine, then about level 30, bam! The game starts freezing in random areas (mostly outside of Whiterun). I have SMIM installed, but I don't know if that's the cause... I checked every mod in this playthrough for errors through xEdit, Wrye Bash, and Loot, and couldn't find any. I looked for conflicts and there weren't any that would cause this -- I guess, I'm not an expert when it comes to things like navemesh, but I didn't see anything that stood out.

Besides, I've walked the road I'm stuck at many times in this playthrough and it didn't crash before now.  It's very frustrating because I hate to have to start over (again). The last time I tried to work around a particular spot to prevent freezing the game, it started freezing in other random areas, so I know whatever's happening isn't particular to the Whiterun area... that just happens to be the place it's occurring the most in my games.

If anyone's figured out a fix, that would be great.

This started happening to me. It doesn't seem location specific. I run a heavy mod list and have been booting mods to try and narrow it down. Having no luck narrowing it down whatsoever. It's just a full freeze, mouse and screen. Cant alt tab, only task manager and a force end. I have SMIM, the blood texture one, Skylands and JK Skyrim among other armor and weapon ones. Cant figure it out.

Same here.... Played for hours without much problems.  Reached about 20th level and now I get a freeze or CTD every 30-40 seconds.  I thought overclocking my GPU helped but, still getting crashes frequently.

I'm taking a guess, here, based on prior dated posts, not this thread ... and my own experience.

> IF < you are running the game through SKSE 64 ... do you have some mods that are ready for it?

I have a number of mods that are not upgraded yet, because the Mod Creator is awaiting SKSE 64 to be out of Alpha and into a solid Beta version.

Again, > IF < you are using SKSE 64 .. if not: Ignore this post. :)

Funny, a lot of people are mentioning frequent crashes or freezes around Whiterun.  That's been a problem area for me too.  I can play for hours in any of the other holds without any sort of issue, but as soon as I enter Whiterun hold it's like I'm virtually guaranteed to crash at least once.

Here's my load order, in case anyone wants to play show-me-yours to look for commonalities.

Hello Community,

I also have complete PC Freeze with game back ground sounds. Nothing work anymore, im forced to reboot my pc.

At fact that the pc freeze, it is impossible to debug the guilty source by a tool (or i don't know how).

Its only happens on exteriors. I suspect that it happens when the weather changes or by rain. But im not sure.

Freezing also happens when I enter some villages and cities (often, but not always).

I'm using a huge list of mods. It will cause many hours to figure out the guilty mod, by the exclusion process (uninstalling and test "mod by mod) - I hope i can avoid that with your help.

I have to mention:
to install the mods, I followed the Northern Experience Guide. But I didn't followed it by the letter (I knew its not recommended) - so I skipped some mods and added other mods into the game.

Here my mod list and load-order:

Modwatch

What i think thats probably not responsible for the freezes:

My hardware:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core
GPU: GeForce RTX 2070 Super
RAM: 32 GB
BaseBoard: MPG X570 GAMING EDGE (MS-7C37)

My save file (freeze happends also by a complete new game)

Mods:

Obsidian Weathers and Seasons (I already uninstalled it and tested)

I thank you in advance for your time & help.

If someone can detect an error on my load-order or some suspicious mods in my mod-list. please let me know.

I would be very happy if i could avoid a completely new installation.

Um, first off, you have 358 MODS that I can see.

1st - Skyrim has a mod limit of 250 + / - depending on your system, not 358.

.... 358 is seriously pushing it beyond running smoothly.

2nd - On top of the likelihood that you have issues seriously exceeding the mod limits for Skyrim.

.... You could also be facing mods that require X, Y or Z that are missing?

.... Plus you could easily have mods that conflict as 1 is trying to do what another is doing?
