[LE] Character to 3D model?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

For a mod I want to make, I need to make a 3D model of a player character that I made. Possibly in different poses. Here I think of the 3D models of the wood elf archer, the mage etc. that you see in loading screens, with weapons and armour etc.
Is there a quick way to do this? Or does everything have to be done by hand in a 3D modelling program? And if so, how do I get the facial features and colours etc.?

Thanks!

from what i've seen and tried myself, you'd first need to use a .bsa viewer and extractor to get the files from the game (skeleton, meshes, textures and such) then convert them to be used in a third party 3d modelling application such as Blender or Autodesk 3ds Max or even NifSkope. import them to your chosen program and arrange them how you choose and then export them as a whole file (not including textures since the textures will have a file path back to the .bsa master file) then convert it back to a usable format for creation kit and skyrim being .nif for the model. and when you implement it as a load screen or statue-esqe figure in game it will retain the pose and armor/weapons in hand or on them and use textures from one of skyrim's several Textures.bsa's or it will use the loose files from a texture mod. getting the skin colors and facial features are all located within the characters files, and skeleton if im correct, things like eyes, mouths, and teeth are in the game files as well since you will need them if you are making the character have a certain facial expression and can be manipulated once its been converted for use in the third party program.

hope this helps, if not sorry for an essay long useless reply XD

This is something I'd like to do too.

For the record, I made a standalone follower mod for a friend of mine, and I'd like to create a load screen showing off the character, similar to the load screens ErianDragonborn mentioned.

However, I'd like to do that using NifSkope as much as possible.

EDIT: I managed to, well, do "something" (assembling the different meshes in NifSkope), but when I imported the resulting mesh, the face texture was invisible.
