Enhanced Landscapes and DynDOLOD, confused and scared....

So I came across this mod when I at first just wanted to get Dark Fantasy Overhaul mod again, but soon to find that it is included in the mod "Enhanced Landscapes" which makes me greatly happy....

But what scares me is the complex steps you must do to use this mod, and where I am confused is when I tried to follow the steps via a YT vod by GamePoets which is great btw, but I now want to ask...

Do you really "HAVE TO" use DynDOLOD to use the mod Enhanced Landscapes or simply wont work? if so, I might try further to understand and get through the steps and get it going. (I'm not that tech savvy and I get scared when I have to touch weird file stuff in Skyrim cuz I dont wanna screw anything up and start from scratch again.)

I also could use any extra help with the process of DynDOLOD, and also, what I didnt see on the YT vid, do you need the Papyrus utility mod or w/e they said is req when downloading DynDOLOD

Hey, i use EL and DynDOLOD, you can use EL without DynDOLOD, but you wont get accurate LOD which is bad, because EL changed so many things in the worldspace.

download EL, DynDOLOD, and any vanilla tree billboard mod (assuming you dont use tree replacer mod like SFO, if you do, download the billboard, they usually have their own billboard)

I used ModOrganizer for these steps, if you don't use it, i recommend you to get it

set the mod order to this (for non MO, overwrite files following these steps):

1. DynDOLOD resources

2. Tree Billboard

3. EL

4. EL plugins

Run TexGen and wait until finish, copy paste files inside TexGen_output to a new folder in MO mods folder, activate it, then set the mod order to this:

1. DynDOLOD resources

2. Tree Billboard

3. EL

4. EL plugins

5. TexGen output

then run DynDOLOD, select the desired LOD detail, copy paste files inside DynDOLOD_output to a new folder in MO mods folder, and activate it, set DynDOLOD.esp to the lowest of your mod order, and that's it, it's quite easy actually if you read the DynDOLOD documentation.

When you say LOD wont be accurate, would it be game breaking or much noticeable to someone who hasnt used DyndoLOD before? Will it screw things up?

DyndoLOD can create a small hit on performance, but you have a lot of options when you run it. Most people report Medium quality meshes to have no noticeable impact. HQ meshes might, depending on your system and mod setup.

LOD not being accurate shouldn't effect stability, but it might look weird. For example, trees might not match, or might be the wrong color. You can have grass that looks red or tan from far away and looks green once you get close. That sort of thing.
