can somebody explain me how to port a mod?

I'm trying to use the special edition creation kit but I'm not able to stop the huge ammount of error messages and the continuous crashes. so I think that I'll do the mod with the old creation kit and than I'll port it for the special edition. can somebody explain me how to port a mod ? thanks
