Hi everyone! I was hoping you could help me out. After getting SSE I spent a lot of time tinkering with graphics, making sure load order and audio was up to scratch ect. I was running everything super high and had a lot of texture mods and stuff, but I am now using lower res and performance heavy mods, using patches, and after playing around set my game in options to 1366x768 with the high settings. After stabilizing my game however, I still have a area that keeps CTD upon entering. Now it isn't a single cell, but a group of cells in the same area of the map. I tried checking the areas in SSE edit but I don't know how to read what I'm looking at. Here is my computer info:

System-

OS- Windows 10 home 64 bit

ASUSTeK Computer INC

System model G752VL

BIOS G752VL.217

Processor-Intel® Core i7-6700HQ CPU @2.60Hz 8CPUs ~2.6Hz

Memory-12288mb RAM

DirectX 12

User DPI settings TRUE

96DPI

DWM DPI scaling FALSE

NVIDIA GeForce GTX965M

Latest .Net, WIN10, and Visual Studio

Mod list is attached. I was unable to upload screen shots but the affected are is down from Ivarstead once you just pass the bridge, right from the Alchemist's Shack (which I can't even fast travel too) and left just passed Angarvunde. They form a nice large triangle. If anyone has some insight I would really appreciate it!

Hi SCTYA and thank you for letting us know!

So let me get this straight; That's your PC, you have all these mods installed, and the issues is as follows:

You go to the rift, and whenever you travel between Ivarstead (the place from which you travel to the throat of the world, right?) and Angarvunde (that tomb after you go down from the twin towers near the waterfall?) the game seems to crash to desktop randomly.

Usually, CTD is caused by low RAM, but in your case I don't think that applies (12 RAM?) so let's try a different approach.

Just for the deduction, try to set all your mods off, and go there again. Just walk right there. If it doesn't crash, then there you go: a problematic mod.

Also, just because I'm curious, try shutting down in particular the Open Cities mod; I myself had a lot of issues with it, so I get a feeling this might help.

And last but not least, did you consider that maybe there are some dirty coding in your mods? cleaning them up would maybe solve this.

1. Save Game Script Cleaner - download from the page and follow instruction. Pretty easy.

2. Furthermore, try using LOOT and SSEEdit. You need to see if there are any ITMs (Identical To Master) files in your mods. In order to clean them, download first LOOT and then SSEEdit. You can find a guide right here on how to use SSEEdit.

Hope this helps. Keep us posted on any advances or changes.

Thank you! Yes, my game my mods. It does have 12 RAM and I already use Loot and SSEEdit. Loot didn't have any error messages. Though if the tags in green tell you something like that I don't know how to read those. SSEEdit I use to clean the master files. Did try to search for conflicts by bringing up the cells but I wasn't able to make sense of what I was looking at. Also I tend to run the game through Razor Cortex. I started off by just disabling Open Cities but still had CTD. Then I disabled all active mods, and after of a couple "This Game save is corrupt and cannot be loaded" it let me load. I made it farther than I was able before and nearly made it to Honeystrand cave. These tests were me leaving from Ivarstead. I also attempting to fast travel to the Alchemist's Shack caused a CTD. So mods are not the problem apparently. Also my dad was curious. He just downloaded the original quake, and with all my tinkering he decided to try a mod out as well. What he did was create two shortcuts. One for the vanilla game and one for the modded version though the games don't crss save. He was curious if the same could be done for skyrim.

That's an improvement already! :)

So gladly we erased Open Cities from our list of suspects. And your rig's fine... so who's our culprit?

Lately many report of CTD's in southern areas of Skyrim. I myself suffer from CTD in the reath (just a little up from the moth cavern) which I solved by fast-traveling to Whiterun and walked all the way back from the other side - which proved to be OK.

But I also found something which I posted on other threads, that might interest you:

Keep us posted on any advancement and we'll try to do our best.

I also had similar trouble and Open Cities was the cause. It just doesn't like working with other mods that affect cities it seems and I don't need OC enough to forgo all the other things I can get.

I agree. In the older game it lowered my FPS to 20-30 near any city (from 60; ridiculous!) and also erased almost all the people in Riften (not joking. I had to follow a guide in YouTube on how to restore them. Unbelievable). Though I really like this mod, I don't like it enough to make it go Catholic all over my hiney.

I know this is a very old post, but even now - on verge of 2019 - I had the same issue. And as Scyta found, verifying the integrity of your file fixed the issue. 4 files were fixed. I just wish I knew what files they were as I will probably now have a mod or two that won't work properly.
