Npcs fading out/turning invisible

So as the title says npcs have recently begun fading out when I'm near them, turning invisible but remaining interactive, and will fade back in briefly also randomly when I'm moving around them. This seems to happen to any npc of either gender, though I did not notice it while I was in skyrim, just in solstheim so far. From what I can tell though it's only happened to human npcs, ie the playable races, I have not seen it on creatures. I have seen other posts saying it is a HDT physics issue, I do have the plugin but the only mod I have that relies on that plugin is Horses Renewal. I tried removing the hdt physics extension plugin from my skse folder but it didnt fix the problem. Also tried reinstalling it but also didn't work. I feel like it might be a skeleton issue, since I use XPSE skeleton and I also have been using FNIS recently to add new animations. This wasn't happening a week or so ago, so I can only think that it's either me making these changes in FNIS, or the other recent changes which include

- Re-running Dyndolod

- Adding Interesting Npcs

- Adding beasts of tamriel

- adding sea of spirits

- added skyrim is windy

I am unsure what else could've changed to cause this. I do know sort of how to replicate the issue in game, which involves me moving away from a group of npcs far enough that they unload, and then running back to them. This is when the issues start happening. I have seen other people saying to disable and enable them as a temporary fix but that's not really good enough when it comes to random invisible bandits, as well as groups of guard patrols of 4-5 half of which are invisible.

Please let me know if you have any ideas of what I can do, I think I will try removing skse temporarily to see if I can determine if its a skse related issue at least to begin with, so I can at least narrow down where it's coming from.

Edit: Just an update, I have disabled ALL my mods other than immersive patrols II, as what I discovered was that the specific npcs that immersive patrols had spawned -always- seem to have this issue. There is a patrol of 4 Redoran guard in solstheim with this mod, and they seem to be the ones affected reliably, though some bandits did it earlier too though I am pretty certain immersive patrols also adds patrolling bandits as they were ones I found out in the wilderness randomly who were fading in and out.

I opened the console and looked up Redoran guards, the ones whose ID starts with FF such as (ff0019564) for example, are the ones that will constantly do this if I spawn them in. I spawned in 5 around me and 4 out of the 5 instantly faded out, I continued spawning them in and more and more would just keep fading out. These ID npcs are from immersive patrols though when clicking on them in the console it says the source is 'unknown', even though without immersive patrols enabled they are no longer there when I look up redoran guards in the console, and spawning in the regular ones does not have this issue.

I don't remember this issue ever being present in my game and I have had immersive patrols for quite a while I believe.

Edit2: Well I seemed to have fixed the issue though I am unsure of how. I figured out it wasnt immersive patrols but actually dark elf males who would typically do this, but only some. After finding that out I looked at both ethereal elven overhaul and foxyskyrim, turns out it was foxyskyrim since after I deleted the changes that mod made to dark elves, I havent seen the typical fading npcs do it anymore. I am confused though since I had everything disabled at one stage and yet it still happened. So it may be fixed, but it may not be. I'll have to play some and keep an eye out.

I used to have a similatr issue with NPCs going invisible (but could still be interacted with).

It turns out it was caused by too many HDT physics threads. ENBoost has memory settings as of v.303 that almost completely eliminated the problem.

Here is a link to that mod.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73618/?

Make sure you read about the different settings for Nvidia/AMD, these parameters in particular (those shown are for my Nvidia card)...

[THREADS]
DataSyncMode=2
PriorityMode=3
EnableUnsafeFixes=true

Obviously, if you're not using HDT, this is unlikely to be the problem, BUT, the fix I suggested might solve your issue as well!

Hope that helps!

Ciao!

I generally don't have mods that alter NPCs in multiple ways like you are doing. That can cause all sorts of issues.

You dont need to for problems to arise. It's a memory limitation--If your system is struggling, you start seeing graphical errors and not drawing something is the most common visual indication you're having memory issues (well, crashing is probably more common).

Simply put, your video card keeps itself from crashing by simply not doing some of the work, in this case, drawing NPCs. ENBoost hands off some of the processing to your system RAM to alleviate the problem. Boris did this quite elegantly, using some neat memory tweaks as of v.303. That one ENBoost upgrade solved the last remaining issues I had with my hardware/Skyrim.
