Hi and welcome to the S.H.A.Y.D.Y. Project thread about Sneaking, Spying, pickpocketing and good ol' creeping around.

This thread will be dedicated to what could be added to the sneaking and pickpocketing system in Fallout 4.

Base idea: One thing I really liked from Fallout: New Vegas was the disguise system, but I think we can bring it back and better in Fallout 4. Want to wander around raider settlements like you're part of the gang, just put on your raider armor and pass as if nothing is going on! Stole on the Prydwen like everything was yours and got caught? Just put on your fake beard and wig you crafted earlier and go as if nothing happen!

Other features: Handcuffs, the first time I stubbled upon handcuff in Fallout 4 I thought "AWESOME! I can handcuff someone!", but to my dismay it wasnt the case... So yeah let's make those craftable and useable! Have handcuffs handy? sneak around and reverse pickpocket these bad boys and watch your now powerless prisoner kneel until you either free him or just leave him to his fate or put an end to his misery! Useful for the pacifist build!

And let's do something about the syringer ammo not being reverse pickpocketable...

You are welcome to leave a message on this thread if you have ideas, critics or else!

indeed...

having the karma, disguise and other systems return in FO4 would have been awesome...

though, it is a huge game in other areas, so they made some savings where they could.

I'd like to keep amicable relations with as many factions in FO4 as possible for as long as possible -

and faction disguises would have helped a lot in early levels to be able to do that.

I don't want to necessarily blast a waster or Gunner or anyone unless I am sure I really want to do that...

I might need that munitions later, or may be able to find workarounds.

being able to abduct settlers and rendition them extraordinarily to Slocum Joes or Covenant or Boston Airport...

and 'determine' if they are synth or not, would be 'fun'.

well, for Enclave Special Colonel Flag. (he wants you to think he's with the Enclave when he's really with the Institute SRB... he just tells people he's from the SRB when he's really from Poseidon Offshore Oil Rig, its a MASH thing.)

placing contraband on folks in a settlement (say, munitions in contravention of a weapons ban),

that'd be great to get them away from prying eyes in a hostile settlement ---

then, you 'handcuff' them, and lead them away.

you could appear to be doing a bounty on the bounty board, and secret the rail-road person away...

bada-bing - they think you took care of the dirty work, the rail-road synth gets to not die, it's a win-win!

maybe, it's a synth-synth, you discover that, and knock them out to take them to the Railroad

'meh, they'll thank me for that later..."

or, to Covenant "another step closer to refining that GOAT-synth test..."

non-lethal exile becomes an option, instead of 'blast this, blast that' all the time.

of course,

to the player who wants to replay and cut loose and be a raider or enclave...

boosting your settlement defence with

human meatshields held in those raider cages, captured ghouls etc...

that'd be awesome too!

+1 defense per captured thing in the stocks (until they are skeleton-ified, when it changes to +1 intimidation)

kinds of restrains;

zip-tie - flimsy temporary restraint for humanoids, not animals or supermutants etc.

rope - not much better than zip-tie or tape.

shackles - these will cause over-encumberment and work on the whole range.

ball-and-flail/chain - this prevents the attachee from moving. extrapoints if its a bowling ball from General Atomics Galleria filled with concrete. or, robot parts.

gallows/stocks - the minutemen can build stocks to put people in, if they have done terrible things. that way, folks can raise their morale by flinging brahmin dung etc at the baddies. --- humorous aside-, the mysterious stranger might be able to get out of the stocks, much to Nick Valentine's chagrin.

det-collar (see what I did there, debt-collar, det collar); a vault-tec lunchbox bomb sits on your back, with caps,

reminding you as the young darth vader said once "One wrong step and they blow you up!"

----

thanks for sharing,

and I look forward to seeing what other folks come up with -

watching the super-stealth gameplays for FO3, FONV or hitman etc,

they're some of the funniest ways to play.
