Nexus Mods Dropping Downloads

Hey guys, I'm having a big problem with downloading large files on Nexus Mods.

To put it simply, randomly Nexus stops downloading randomly, particularly on large files.

This is frustrating, I am a free user but I don't think I should be experiencing this.

In Mod Organizer, files will stop progressing. When downloading manually through Google Chrome I will get 'Failed - Network error' and 'Failed - Server unreachable' when I try to resume.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks.

EDIT: I would become a premium user, likely solving the issue with access more servers, but my internet speed does not reach the free user download speed limit, so it seems pointless.

Premium offers perks like faster speed and multiple downloads at the same time, as well as (forever) removing ads even after your premium expires. It doesn't have any effect on reliability. Having said that, premium is nice to have for all the perks.

Sometimes reaching the Nexus cdn servers can get iffy if there's maintenance going on or they're just really, really busy (like from a Steam sale.) People buy Skyrim when it's on sale (even five years later) then hammer the servers all trying to get mods.

Google Chrome, for all the wonderful things it does, sometimes gets persnickety (yes, that's a word) with NMM and the cdn servers, especially after an update. Try manually downloading with Firefox and see if that works.

Sometimes all you have to do is wait. Try downloading again tomorrow. There's a better than even chance the problem will go away simply by waiting.

EDIT: Gah! Forgot to mention that there IS a bit of troubleshooting you can try:

-In NMM, click on the "settings" icon (looks like two little gears.)

-In the settings menu that appears, click on the "download options" tab.

-In the download options tab, click on the "server location" drop down menu. (It should say "Default CDN" before you click it.)

-Try another setting and see if you can hook up more reliably to get your downloads completed tonight.

Note: I recommend that you return this setting to Default CDN later as it is usually the best setting. It has a heuristic function that is supposed to increase both speed and reliability every time you download.

Tried downloading Skyrim 2k textures with Firefox, failed with 200MB to go. Seriously this is pissing me off.

This has been a persistent problem for at least a week.

If you own a cell phone? you can install a firefox app on it OR use it's current app to access the nexus site with, log in , go to that page and download the mod.

It "they" cell phones do not run on the same systems but do interconnect. Your issue is the PC and the software installed on it.

This is IF you have the space on the phone?

Post the link to the 2k thing, I'll see how fast I get it.

How fast are your downloads running? How long are they typically running for? These are obviously big files, so I'm wondering how long it's taking you to download the files and when this typically happens. E.g. is there a pattern that your download fails if you download for more than 1 hour, every time? Or does it cut off at random times between seconds, minutes and hours, with no pattern?

I'm having the same issue. I am trying to get a 2k texture pack. It's 1.8GB, and has an expected timer of around 35 minutes. It stopped after about 10 minutes of downloading. This time I let it sit when it stopped downloading, and about 5 minutes later it let me resume the download in Google Chrome. Hopefully I can get it downloaded.

Update: I got it to keep going by resuming the download everytime it stopped, but it seems to have completely stopped at 1.4GB.

This problem happens more often with larger files (e.g. Skyrim HD 2k) that take me 1-1.5 hours to download, but it has occurred with smaller files even less than 100MB (Only in MO). My internet speed ranges from 400-800KBps

Ok folks, we've made some slight changes to our CDN configuration.

Please can you give it another go and let me know how you're getting on with large files from this point on, i.e. don't tell me about problems you had before today.

What sort of connection are you on? Is it a simple, "dumb", home connection with no sort of special setup (e.g. just a home ISP plugging in to a router that plugs in to your computer?? Is it a uni network? Is it just one connection or do you have multiple lines in to your setup?
