Hello,

I downloaded a mod called War Of The Commonwealth which i eventually realised was quite buggy and uninstalled it. Unfortunately, one of the issues seems to have persisted in that the synths in the game are non hostile towards me which ruins the game. FYI i haven't joined the institute or even got far enough in this playthrough to align myself with them. This is also a problem that others using this mod have had.

I'm not sure how to go about fixing this issue and the only thing i can think of is some sort of script cleaning to get rid of whatever WOTC left in my game. The alternative is to start a new game.

Can anybody suggest anything that might help?

Thanks

It`s hard to know what exactly this mod changed in your game. If the mod changed faction relationsip, then you can try to change it to the default state. You can do with console commands. Does this mod have any special instructions for uninstalling? If so, you can try to install it back and then to uninstall properly. In some cases it can help to set some values that were changed by this mod back to their default state.

You can also try to run steam validate cache. But it requires deinstallation of other mods.

Worst advice ever. That would only fix corrupted game assets, which mods cannot mess with anyway.

In addition, steam validation doesn't touch save game files and this sounds like a problem baked into a save game file.

Well this helped me many times to fix any game problems. Never had to reinstall the game. Not a single time in my whole life. Though I don`t usually install 200 mods, 30-50 is enough for me. But if some files are missing this will restore them.

Yes, but that is the point of using it, to allow you to use your saves and not to start a new game.

This option is usefull when some game files were corrupted.

I don`t know what is this mod and what bugs it has. This is the last option before reinstalling the game. Better to try this than to start from the beginning. At least on my view. I have only 1 playthrough and my character is 130+ lvl. I`d probably just quit the game at all if I had to reinstall it and start a new game.

I think that the mod simply has changed faction reaction/ relationship etc, and that is easy to fix. But can` be sure , and it could have changed other things too. Need to a look at the mod files to be sure. Any changes made to vanilla settings do not dissapear with mod uninstalling. But they can be changed manually.

To the topic author :

If I were you, I`d write a message to the mod author. He has created this mod, he knows what faction relations his mod changes and potentially can tell you how to fix it with console commands. I have looked at files quickly, There are lots of changing player/faction relations. Such changes stay in game even if the mod is removed unless the mod author has created some good way of cleaning your game from these changes. And those settings do not change themselves to default. They can only be changed by scripts or console commands. If you have some saves prior to this mod installation, you can try to use them. Should fix it.
