How to replace graphics card?

I apologize if i am not meant to ask this in this forum, but i was not sure where else to ask this. I need some help replacing my computers graphic card. I recently bought my first computer, at best buy, and it is the acer aspirer i5 with the integrated 620 graphics. I have been trying to find the answer to this on google, but cannot seem to find it. I saw somewhere that you can get some kind of special card or something that will override the intel graphics, so you can use it. Does anyone have any idea how i can find this out? Id very much would rather replace my integrated graphics, than take this computer back and spend almost double the money on a real gaming computer. I am not doing anything that is too advanced, i use my Xbox to play "newer" games, but there are some games i do enjoy playing on pc. Can someone please help me? thankyou.

You read right. You can install your own graphics card.

What you need to know is the type of slot your motherboard has available. That way you can find a compatible graphics card.

Take a look at http://www.playtool.com/pages/vidslots/slots.html. It's a rather long read, but if you skim through the technical stuff, it explains it quite nicely.

Anyway, most modern desktops will have a PCI-Express x16 slot for video cards. So, look for that.

PS A friendly piece of advice. If you have absolutely no experience with doing stuff like this (and it sort of sounds like that, no offense ), ask someone else to do it. You can really mess up your computer if you damage your motherboard or any of the other hardware near it.

Does it happen to be the 'Acer Aspire T"? If so there is a video on YouTube that will teach how to install a GPU. At the very least it will help you know what to look for and know whether or not a GPU upgrade is possible on your machine. As a side note, the wattage of your power supply is fairly important to know beforehand as you don't want to overload it.

Okay, then the next thing you need to find out is how much power your power supply can give your components, and whether or not you have a slot for your GPU. The video I linked should show you what that slot should look like, among other things that are important to know when it comes to adding a GPU. Could you perhaps link the computer you got? I can imagine you could identify which one is yours on the Best Buy website better than I could.

You won't be able to change the GPU in a laptop.

You can't change it but you can go eGPU (with a ton of disposable income) and certainly make it better.

It's possible but I don't see an ExpressCard slot on that machine which means you might have to take the thing apart to find a mPCIe slot, even then it may not work. It might be worth contacting Acer first if you're thinking of doing that or looking at some specialist sites to find out if anyone has got it working with your model. The other "ton of disposable income" option is a desktop or a gaming laptop, the former would be better if you have the space.
