Puckle Gun in Fallout style.

I recently learned about the "Puckle gun" and it looks amazing. I think this gun would adapt easily to Fallout 4 and make for a pretty unique weapon.

In my eyes this works best as a modernized version, electric motor on the crank, or the crank moved to the side, a stock and frame to hold it with.

I think it works best as an oversized revolver or magnum. the reload should be scripted I think so if you only reload 2 cylinders is makes sense. It could fire one shot per pull, or any number of shots in between per pull. If it were charging you could "charge up" the number of cylinders you wanted to unload at once.

Mods could include.

Ammo changes like grenades, rockets, fat fan, anti tank. I think it should stick to ballistic and explosive. I do believe that maybe a custom ammo made from fusion cells or plasma would be neat to make into "laser or plasma shells for this so it's one super powerful laser or plasma shot per cylinder.

Recoil should be low except for the most powerful ammo/effects. Imagine how much recoil 9 shots from that in a row makes!

Maybe some mods could add gyros to help keep it extra stable with anything too OP requiring a deployable tripod or even a piston to counter the recoil. I definitely thin that square shells is a must and it could cause bleed DMG. Square shells could even be a special mod that applies to other shell types.

A junk jet receiver would be very interesting, something that loads your cylinders with whatever explosives you happen to have.

There should be 6 and 9 shot variants available. Leveled list integration is a must, I think this would fit far Harbor perfectly, but there should also be an option to put it in the whole game's leveled lists and have them drop only on legendary enemies.

Projectile type and number of cylinders should be moddable separately.



I am completely open to suggestions. I don't have the skills to mod this, but this gun seems so perfectly suited to Fallout I really hope someone with skills likes the idea as much as me ^___^

I like your line of thought here -

particularly your ideas for game-mechanics.

 

the Forgotten Weapons conversion project thread will at some stage make this happen.

I'm hoping it will be as a stand-alone.

They also make ports of the 'kyber pass' weapons that Ian shows on Forgotten Weapons.

it seems the texturing part is the longest part of turnaround, that,

and extracting the audio and cleaning it up or simulating a sound-alike.

 

 

 

before folks have an IP-aneurysm, yes, the content makers gave permission to the conversion projects to do that.

sound alikes are often better though, as there's other noises or the reverberance isn't right with the original audio.

 

 

 

The Puckle-Gun would be great as an emplacement,

or to make the Power Armors different, as a power-armor only weapon etc.

you need a brace to wield it.

Different Power Armors have different Hardpoints and overall-loadout complexity limit. T45 can't really do fancy lazer stuff or camo well,

though the puckle gun or canon, sure thing.

kinda like RN's "Defribulator" belt-fed slam-fire shotgun...

 

I digress, turning to the puckle gun;

we could make it function like a china-lake or the Junk Jet -

-it will fire only the grenades you place into it.

-the ammo counter on the HUD is replaced by a graphic representation of your 3 'magazines'.

-the menu shows each 'magazine', and you can load each of those as you like it,

up to 3 magazines. so, if you wanted each grenade to be ion ion plasma ion plasma baseball,

followed by: synth relay, synth relay, vertibird, artillery, flare, nuke-handgrenade

and rounded off with nothing but baseball.

you could do that, you min-maxing specific fallout player hehe.

rather than making separate threads for all Forgotten Weapons requests,

it'd be awesome to have the

"Forgotten Weapons Conversion/Port Project" -

an ongoing new weapons parts packs project that stops when Ian runs out finding odd weapons hehe.

that way, folks can look it all up in the one place hehe.

 

so many folks are fans of those Youtube channels/Full30 channels,

so it'll end up being threads everywhere hehe.

 

There are also similar themed threads for

JoergSprave, Hickok45, Jerry Miculek, 50CalVal, RoyalNonesuch and Taoflaedermaus.

joerg-sprave launchers would make great 'small guns/improvised weapons'

nonesuch makes real-world pipe stuff or hipoints of zip-gats and pipe-rifles hehe.

'maus does a lot of different kinds of munitions effects.

I like the idea of a "vintage" version, and that definitely would go there. I see something more like an inspired Fallout style 3, 6, or 9 shot revolver only giant.

I think a junk jet receiver that loads your cylinders with whatever explosives you happen to have would be awesome.

I think the number of cylinders should be moddable independently of what ammo it uses.
