Fallout Shelter Game

My idea is a simple one though I haven't the slightest clue of the challenge it may present to a mod developer. My thought is to have Fallout shelter ported into Fallout 4 and playable through a pip-boy. My thought behind this is so I can have a fallout shelter game running in the background of my Fallout 4 game with time advancing as a play Fallout 4, similar to using the android version of the game. I'm not sure if it this would be possible but I think it would be a nice little addition to the addictiveness of Fallout.

@dragonlife284

an interesting hypothetical. thanks for asking

are you envisaging using Fallout Shelter as those pip-fall etc game cartridges in FO4?

or, are you wanting to use Fallout Shelter as a side-game or dynamic settlement control interface?

there may be a few ways to achieve your hypothetical

depending on the scope of what you envisage;

already, some users have wondered why the hacking sub game can't be an actual virtual partition/dos-box emulator...

those such folks are already working on some awesome mod scope projects.

as perilous and awesome as those projects are, they do offer some ideas for other mod project potentials.

likewise, within that framework, it could be possible to then out-link to an app emulator itself.

voila. you can now use your pip-boy in-game or on your phone, to play that...

there will be latency issues, but you could do it.

run around the wasteland, and return to base to play fallout shelter on your robco in-game computer.

that is perfectly fine, assuming you have purchased fallout shelter etc.

if you havent, when you go to that tie-in, it will be a blank screen hahaha

its exactly the same as the live-stream embedable audio project, or the drag-n-drop .gif/.swf/.mov sharer to have live-movies etc.

it honors the EULA t's&c's of 'thou shalt not take assets directly between games without expressed prior written consent."

because, they're not 'in the game'. they're still a standalone game, that is being tied-in without necessarily exchanging code data between them.

if you want to play the game as a standalone game cartridge like the Robotics Magazines and RobCo quarterly mags,

then you'd be looking at a re-write and a likeness based on it type deal.

that'd be complicated-er.

though, i like your idea -

allowing you to run both games, and potentially read-write between them,

like having an RTS form of FO4, maybe like Fallout Tactics,

and have those dynamically alter gamestates between them, as a 'side-game',

or even just

having alt-tab'd your Fallout Shelter while running FO4... all interesting ideas.

I hope bethesda itself will be looking into these immersive possibilities,

and meta-narratives between different concurrent apps etc.

I hope that gives a few ideas as to how this could be achieved.

It will likely take a few modders to collaborate on,

and I recommend making it a sub-mod/spinoff mod from the Terminal/Hacking mini game overhaul project,

rather than as a likeness that is playable as a holotape in-game type thing.

or, we can wait for the full HUDui and Pipboy .swf overhaul to complete,

and you could make a likeness of it in .swf that could be played from the pipboy.
