I want to start making models for KOTOR

TL;DR:

I have experience making meshes from scratch and animating in Blender for Bethesda RPGs and want to use those skills to make cool, original content for KOTOR and TSL. Please help.

Full version:

Hi. I've been working on a KOTOR/Mass Effect inspired (but not derivative) mod for New Vegas, so naturally, I started playing Mass Effect and now KOTOR when I'm not working on it. This of course makes me want to make stuff to add to KOTOR as well now.

I have experience modding Bethesda RPGs as well as making models and animating with Blender for them. I have KOTOR tool, and GIMP looks like it'll let me edit textures, but I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction to get me started creating models that will be compatible with KOTOR and eventually TSL as well (preferably using blender 2.49b). I understand that I'm probably a bit late to the party on this, but there's a few things I'd like to try and would really appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

They have a bunch of tutorials on yourube and even tools at Nexus Kotor.

I have only done a few replacement and visual mods, nothing like new areas or items sadly.

KOTOR won't ever really die, but the older modders of like 2014 have just quite, but if you know other modders get them in on Kotor too.

Thank you for wanting to make mods, I know there are still alot of people that download mods and look for Kotor mods specifically especially since the Kotor Android version was released(pc mods work on it as well) that's as much of a nudge as I can give since there is a Max amount of paragraphs you put here and no images.

For sure go to YouTube or Nexus and look around. Alot of people have left their modding tools and info around before they moved on and I'm sure you'll get alot of support from the communities still playing Kotor
