Looking for scripters and Modellers to help me bring a big project to life!`

Hi there!

Soooo,

I'm totally new to modding, tried it on my old computer which couldn't run anything but am going to be re-downloading the creation kit once again on my new laptop in order to get things rolling but I'm putting out a recruitment call for anyone who has more experience than me in creating large scale mods.

I'm wanting to create a modular set of mods that will eventually be combined, loosely based on a fantasy series I have been writing, for inclusion within the Skyrim Universe. I am wanting to create a story driven piece of work that will serve as a 'portfolio' for future advancements in this kind of industry. First and foremost, I'm a writer and will handle the majority of creative direction but will of course be open to input and criticism, to this end I will design the locations, characters, conversations, questlines and would also love to lay the groundwork for some unique asset development such as armour and weapons which I have been trying my hand at designing (on paper) for a while now.

The mod will eventually encompass several different factions and will take a high level player through a power struggle in which they decide the ruler of the City of Sevenstar, a city rife with political intrigue, corruption, and a few good men

As this is based on pre-existing ideas, much of the groundwork is lain, and I'm going to be starting up the modding tools of Skyrim and see how far I get, though I doubt it will be too far.

Importantly, this is (unfortunately) not a paid offer, this is a work of passion and would suit someone looking to make a name for themselves and hone their skills. This is something that I will be committed too for a long haul if I can get this off the ground and any input will be appreciated and credited! If you want to come in three months down the line, model a few unique assets, then leave with a credit, that's fine

Right now I'll be looking for anyone with experience of 3d modelling that could take my ideas from paper into the world as an asset but if you have any skills that you believe could benefit me, or little tips or tricks for dealing with the idiosyncrasies of Skyrim's modding creation world then I'd love to hear from you!

A little further down the line I'll be looking for scripters and a couple of people to take up responsibility for the creation of areas of the Mod, locations or character creation, asset placement and testers so if anyone is interested please give me a shout!

Little bit nervous about all this but I'm pretty confident in my own abilities as a creator and am well organised as a project leader, if a little green to the subject matter!

Thanks for your time and well done if you made it to the bottom of this essay!

Call me rude, but I just want to help you.

NOBODY will create something like this for you.

It's a huge project. Sure, someone might consider it interesting, but I'm sure people will have to create a worldspace from scratch, NPCs from scratch, models from scratch....maybe textures from scratch, etc.

The point is...why would somebody want to help you? You're totally new to the modding world (aka probably you can't even use the Creation Kit), you aren't developing the mod and you are requesting others to accomplish this.

Your text is a bunch of ideas. Maybe great ideas!

But you can't pretend for some help for something like this.

My "help", should you consider this an help:

Learn how to mod.

First of all, choose your possible specialization (object placing, scripting, mesh creation, etc..I suggest you object placing, but if you are able to learn other things, it's a lot better), then create simple mods. This way you will learn how the Creation Kit (or other programs) works.

After this step, with some time you will be able to proceed to create a part of your dream-mod (for instance, if you choose the object placing path - which might be the first important path during the first building stages - you will give a physical aspect to your fantasy world.

Only then, when the mod will reach an Alpha or Beta stage (aka a worldspace playable for real testing/preview purposes, not just ten houses, some trees and some streets), you could try to ask for some help. Some people might like the project and might join for some help. Or might not!

It will take a lot of time and study to reach your goal, but if you really want to do it, simply do it and never give up!

Cheers, I hope that helped

Thanks :)

All helpful, perhaps I should have rephrased it a little, got a bit carried away with waffling!

The main thing I'm needing assistance with at the moment is the creation of unique assets, so someone who can 3d model things. I've already made good progress in the Creation Kit with NPC's and am starting to build the spaces as well. The biggest issue I'll have is with scripting a little further down the line but I'm learning as I'm going anyway as there are some excellent tutorials for stuff!

Perhaps it would be better to scrap this thread, remove the bigger picture and just ask for assistance with modelling the assets such as weapons and armour instead for now?

I see what you mean and that makes total sense, guess I just got excited and wanted to see if anyone wanted to start this with me, but you're totally right, why would they at the moment if I have nothing tangible to really work with!

Thanks for your reply, can't see why I'd call you rude! :)

So, you didn't build much things.

In my opinion, it might be still too early to request some help. Carry on, most things must be done, otherwise you might look like one of those thousands modders Who want to create something Epic but will never manage to achieve 50% of their goal

When it will be the time for the help request, I strongly suggest you to attach some pics, so that People can actually see if you are doing something fantastic.

And...

If you can't create scripta, just forget about them...for now.

if you can't create meshes, I suggest you to temporary place objects that come along with the CK. Just rename them and create a new form, so that - when the replacement mesh will be ready - you can directly swap it safely, without screwing vanilla files.
